It’s with the heaviest of hearts that I share the passing of my beloved Daddy.💔He was a paratrooper in the Army, a Purple Heart recipient, and a true American hero. His bravery is written about in military magazines — he risked his life to save his lieutenant. He was the definition of COURAGE.
Riding next to him on our Harleys will always be one of my favorite memories. He was my riding buddy, my joke partner, my protector, and the one who taught me to live fearlessly. He looked tough (and he was), but he was also the most incredible Papa and deeply loving to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If you knew him, you loved him! He was our Patriarch. Respected. Revered. Unforgettable.

This video I captured of my niece seeing her best friend for the first time after moving 9 months ago is priceless and so apropos for International Women’s Day. Our empowerment is strengthened the moment we meet our BFF and learn the importance of connection among girls/women. Together we have the courage to pass by the cutie we’ve been admiring from afar. We dare to wear the fit we love, but need the extra boost of assurance to pull it off. We show up for each other no matter the distance. We remind each other by the notion that if these fabulous women admire me, I must be pretty badass myself. We hold up a mirror of truth and reflect the unshaken bond that captivates us the moment our hearts meet on the playground. To my Mama and all the phenomenal women in the entire world, may we embrace every reunion, albeit a memory or in person, that we have shared and may we continue to be fierce beautiful role models for our nieces, daughters, granddaughters, friends and each other. Growing up, we had no pets so I never understood the attachment and degree of love for them, UNTIL, I met Friday. The moment we met, her perfect little face alone melted me, and her endless tenderness cracked my heart open to a level I had never known. She was my favorite yoga partner, my best side kick, and during the pandemic, since I lived alone, she was shelter for my soul. Her docile demeanor was healing. I’m ever so grateful for her parents @benfloor1 and @ripleyrader who knew the power of love this little angel possessed and blessed me with being able to take her for outings and overnights. Thank you, Friday for teaching me the true meaning of unconditional love and making me a better person. Your name is forever inscribed upon my heart.
