THE KING OF SCANDAL is coming in Summer 2027! 👑 “Author of NYT Notable Book AUGUST LANE Regina Black’s THE KING OF SCANDAL, about a struggling single mother who unexpectedly inherits a stake in her ex-fiancé’s billion-dollar company, causing tension to reignite between them as she also uncovers a century-old injustice that forces her to choose between reclaiming her family’s stolen legacy and a second chance with the man she never stopped loving.” Yes. Joe and Mia. iykyk 😌 You know that feeling when your ex walks into a room, and suddenly you can’t breathe? Now imagine he’s a multi-millionaire, you’ve just inherited part of his family’s billion-dollar company, and there’s a hundred-year-old secret that could burn it all down. Joe and Mia’s story is everything I love writing about: Black women claiming what’s theirs, love that refuses to die even when it should, and complicated truths about history and ownership in this country. It’s also about what happens when the path to salvation means facing your biggest regrets. You’ll enjoy this one if you like... 💔 Second Chances that cause Complete Emotional Devastation 🌍 Multicultural Love ⏳ Twenty years of yearning 📖 Dual timeline + Dual POV 😮‍💨 OBSESSED, down bad, multi-millionaire + Single mother Black Cinderella 🔥 Grown and sexy single parents 💰 Eat the Rich (But get your bag first) 🔍 Historical mystery subplots 👑 Black excellence = Black humanity 💭 “You’re ruining my life. Please don’t go.” 2027 feels like forever, away but it will be here before you know it. I can’t wait to share this epic love story with you.

IS THIS HAPPENING? AUGUST LANE is one of the New York Times’s 100 Notable Books of 2025 😭😭😭 This book. THIS BOOK. It’s the hardest thing I’ve written. I was afraid it was too different from my debut, too Arkansas, too country (because who besides Beyoncé knew Cowboy Carter would be a thing?!). I loved this book so much, but I thought it would break my heart. It didn’t. It healed it. Thank you to everyone who’s read and shared their love for August and Luke’s story. I am so, so grateful. #newyorktimesnotablebook #blackromancenovels #blackcountry

Happy Tuesday all! We’re delighted to share the latest episode from the romance season of The Write Way of Life — available now wherever you listen to podcasts! Karis chatted with the incredible Regina Black, author of THE ART OF SCANDAL and AUGUST LANE, about the importance of writing romance by, for, and featuring people of color. They touched on what it’s like to try to write outside of a white-character default in the publishing world, as well as the joys that come with crafting stories that make BIPOC readers feel seen. Let us know in the comments here or on Spotify what you think. And feel free to leave a review/rating anywhere you listen to podcasts — maybe even share with a friend? Thank you we love youuuu <3
