Happy to have a sculpture in this exhibition curated by @atiliopernisco ✨✨ Opening reception: 7-10 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 @durdenandray ‘UNSEATED’ The Chair as Metaphor Run of show: March 21 - April 18, 2026 Hours: Saturdays, noon-5 p.m. Closes: April 18, 2026 Curated by Atilio Pernisco Artists: Marinés Adrianza, Fiona Baler & Pablo Baler, Mariano Cinat, Gioj De Marco, Meghan DeRoma, Stanley Edmondson, Regina Herod, Pablo Holocwan, Carmine lannaccone, Ben Jackel, Raghubir Kintisch, Keith Lord, Eva Malhotra, Krishna Rajendra Malhotra, Barry Markowitz, Carolie Parker, Arnie Saiki, Diane Silver, Ruth Trotter, HK Zamani Durden and Ray presents UNSEATED: The Chair as a Metaphor which explores the web of symbols generated by one of our most familiar objects: the chair. This exhibit invites the visitor to engage with the chair not merely as a piece of furniture, but as a metaphor at the center of human experience. Inspired by works such as Joseph Kosuth’s One and Three Chairs, this exhibition examines how language, representation, and embodied interactions converge to imbue this ubiquitous object with unexpected meanings. UNSEATED features 20 contemporary artists working in various media: sculpture, installation, photography, and painting, selected for their innovative approaches to the theme while ensuring a cohesive yet diverse exploration. Included are unique reinterpretations of a physical and emotional relationship with space, isolation and connection, instability, balance, fragility, and transformation. By positioning the chair as a lens through which these skeins of narratives are explored, UNSEATED invites you to consider broader socio-political, cultural, and historical contexts that bring to the fore personal and collective questions of identity, power, and belonging.

Happy to have several sculptures in this exhibition curated by @jahzmen This is a part of the SUR:biennial exhibition. “Out of Bounds: Dis Place” opens tomorrow evening, Thursday, October 30, at Fullerton College Art Gallery. OPENING RECEPTION October 30th, 4-6 PM Run of show: October 30th - November 26th, 2025. Out of Bounds: Dis Place is an exhibition which focuses on the discourse between race, displacement, and the body. Inspired by Katherine McKittrick’s book Demonic Grounds, the exhibition seeks to explore the realm of alternative possibility through contemporary art. Through mediums such as craft, sculpture, painting, and other mixed media forms, Out of Bounds supports and contorts the .. concept of space and bodily forms to open conversations surrounding truth, reality, and history. Utilizing work from Black femme and nonbinary makers, this show highlights how the Black experience, from the physical body to alternative space, can create spiritual possibilities and realms through identity, resistance, and deconstruction. Throughout the exhibition, motifs such as bodily separation, reorganization of physical space, and use of material all pose the question: How does our existence inform us about what we mean to the world? The Black femme experience, throughout the diaspora, has historically held an alternate life, one where new truths are discovered, new histories are explained, and culture is created. Using the meaning of both Caribbean English and the description of liminal space, Dis Place speaks to the notion of identifying, moving, and reclaiming space, whether liminal or physical. The exhibition is in conjunction with the 2025 SUR Biennial, focusing on “Art of the South”. With the participation of Black artists from the south of many countries across the diaspora, the exhibition highlights the importance of representation, alternative forms, and artistic possibility. ‘Translocal Conclave Amid the Market” is a group exhibition exploring the connections and differences in artistic processes among artists from Los Angeles and Belgrade presenting @durdenandray and @blokgalerija artist run space by @zeksi_zeksi Zeljka Momirov The exhibition investigates whether decentralized cultural spaces—closer to the public and distant from elite circles—can truly bridge social divides and engage a broader community. Translocality, as applied here, refers to a range of ongoing, open, and non-linear processes that foster close ties among different locations and populations. It encompasses both voluntary and forced migrations and can serve as a tool for resistance, emancipation, and the transformation of societal norms. Furthermore, translocalism can facilitate the creation of new spaces for agency, solidarity, and reflection.
