After a long break from the trumpet last year, I feel like I'm finally making progress again.
Looking forward to playing and gigging a lot more trumpet this year!
Here's a recent transcription I did of Charlie Parker's Solo from Dexterity.
Some recent gigs and some not so recent gigs to accompany this post.
In February this year I had to make the very difficult decision to take some time away from playing trumpet due to a medical condition. The nature of my condition has made playing trumpet for any extended period very uncomfortable and unfortunately the only solution presented to me is surgery.
Following my surgery I am expecting an extended recovery period before I can play trumpet to the same level I was at before.
It has been very difficult to face up to potentially losing some of the progress that I made playing trumpet over the past few years and to cut out something from my life that brings me so much joy has been near impossible.
Writing this I'm currently in the waiting room of Blackheath Hospital awaiting surgery. I'm so thankful to have such a supportive group of people around me to help me through this difficult time especially my incredibly supportive partner Aaliyah.
Hopefully you'll see me tooting again in the near future. Here's to a speedy recovery🎺🤕
Pt. 1 of some nice moments from my undergraduate final, thanks to everyone that came along.
