Refuse x Galxboy: “Routes to Freedom”
This collaboration draws power from the legacy of cornrows, hairstyles that carried more than beauty. For enslaved Africans, these braids were maps to freedom, quiet rebellions woven into strands of hair. They held hidden messages, escape routes, and the spirit of resistance. Today, we honor that legacy not just as history, but as a blueprint for the future.
In this drop, we translate that spirit into a bold, modern language. The design speaks to the youth and the Culture, urging them to chart their own paths, break free from systems that confine them, and proudly embrace who they are.
The bling chain featured in this collab represents the richness of our heritage, a celebration of where we come from and a reminder that our culture is treasure. It’s not just style, it’s statement. It’s not just fashion, it’s freedom.

Refuse S/S 2025 Capsule “uKhamba” draws deep inspiration from the traditional Nguni clay vessel, Ukhamba, and its profound symbolism in African heritage. The Ukhamba, traditionally used for drinking Umqombothi (African traditional beer) during communal gatherings, transcends its physical purpose and serves as a reservoir of unity, respect, and nourishment, both physically and spiritually. Rooted in rituals where individuals kneel around the Ukhamba to show reverence, the vessel is a beacon of connection, humility, and shared humanity.
Refuse Clothing, draws inspiration from the Ukhamba, celebrating its aesthetic and functional beauty, it is about emphasizing its enduring relevance. The capsule mirrors the vessel’s philosophy, uniting traditional African values with contemporary narratives. It underscores the importance of sharing, inclusivity, and respect while addressing the need to preserve culture in a fast-changing world.
Through “uKhamba,” Refuse seeks to create a bridge between past and present, reinforcing that fashion is not only an artistic expression but a medium to honor heritage, foster togetherness, and inspire a future deeply rooted in cultural authenticity.
