Coming in hot for the next instalment of our spotlight series we’re gassed to be welcoming @mattfromdell & @big.son.nrg aka @refreshments___ to Unhappen this Thursday ~
Conor and Matt started Refreshments as a monthly radio show, running for six years on Liverpool’s independent station Melodic Distraction.
Since relocating to London, they’ve thrown parties across SE London at the odd sweaty basement, MOT, Carpet Shop and Avalon Cafe, along with some artists they love - past guests include DJ Marcelle, Amor Satyr/Siu Mata, Henzo, Lupini, 96 Back and Bloomfeld. These nights have given them spaces to hone their signature late-night, percussion-driven sound.
They’re also part of a collective behind Earthworks, a DIY, not-for-profit festival in Hampshire. The festival celebrates grassroots creativity and encourages participants to carry that spirit into everyday life beyond the weekend. This May Bank Holiday marks its fourth iteration.
We’re expecting a set full of sonic twists & turns as they navigate sub pressure through the 30Hz soundsystem.

It’s been some time since our last venture out in London, so we’ve made sure it’s a return in solid fashion with none other than Dutch experimental club icon, DJ Marcelle at Venue M.O.T.
Marcelle can manipulate a dancefloor like no one else. Totally unpredictable, beautifully chaotic, genre-defying sets.
Support from @_maiden____ , who we have been waiting for the right moment to book since she blew our socks off at The White Hotel back in 2022.
Finally, we have @bencowper & @harry_fitz._ (aka Get serious) opening with their strain of wrong-speed trance, new beat, new wave and post-punk.
Couldn’t be more excited to be back.
