Donated clothes are sorted, cleaned, repaired, sold and shared through @refashion.lab at Streetscapes which is a Cape Town-based non-profit organisation dedicated to ending homelessness by growing better lives.
Today @streetscapes_urban_farms the mayor of Cape Town heard about the organisation and asked many questions.
Streetscapes is a Cape Town-based non-profit organisation dedicated to ending homelessness by growing better lives. "We provide job opportunities to those looking for a hand up, not a hand out, and work together with those living on the street to transform and rehabilitate their lives. Our programme includes work, community connection, harm reduction, psychosocial support and shelter."
@refashion.lab with the assistance of Luleka Zepe and @heywhiterabbit we run a sewing circle at Streetscapes.

This week we sorted textile scraps for quilt making @streetscapes_urban_farms - this is hard because after this process, there is very little we can do with the leftover scraps. The pieces that are too small have to be discarded, for now. We're looking for a solution. We have an idea, but if you have others please let us know. #refashionlab #circulareconomy
We're back! After a short winter break, Refashion Lab is back at @streetscapes_urban_farms where we work with a group of clients sorting, selling, repairing and (re)making donated clothes. This shower mat is made of plaited strips of old bath towels.
@streetscapes_urban_farms is working on solutions for homelessness and addresses the multidimensional needs of this very vulnerable population.
@refashion.lab - an organization run by Erica de Greef from @afri_digital and @jackiemay_sa from @twygmag - is a think and practice tank (re)thinking and (re)working the fashion industry based in Cape Town.
