📣THIS SUNDAY! 5:30-8:30 PM📣
A special edition tool teach-in with Play Lab’s Cielo Morales @crowcamino
Together we’ll release the control of our rational logical brains, and surrender into stories we need as we embody live collective world building through play.
DM us for address and deets :)
**
Every month, we gather around a sticky topic - a theme that’s touchy, heavy, or hard to talk about, suggested by our community of practice. Instead of getting stuck in ruts of our rational brains, we play through the layers of complexity, doing embodied research through games and reflective activities.
The container we set creates safety for all emotions to flow - not just laughter, but also grief, rage, and deep revelation. For March, we will share exercises for co-creating stories with our bodies. 🦶🏽🦾🫁👤
These exercises come from our teachers in the world of ensembles devising physical theater (Pig Iron Theater and Double Edge Theater).
🌀Ensembles aka intimate groups of people with a shared intention to co-create.
💡Devising aka conjuring new/ancient work that’s based on what comes through our bodies in a shared presence, not a pre-determined text or plan.
👁️Physical theater aka communicating beyond or without words. You don’t have to identify with any of those obscure words!
We’re hoping to translate these tools into our practice of envisioning and rehearsing for futures of mutual care and liberation.
We’re launching a new Movement Finance series 🎥✨
Six videos digging into how money actually moves—and how it could move differently.
As we invest in collective infrastructure and community projects that center our people and the planet, we need to better understand the financial tools shaping our futures.
We’re asking:
• What is finance really for?
• Why does the system feel so wrong?
• And how can we reimagine and democratize finance to build economies rooted in care, relationship, and liberation?
Let’s learn. Let’s reimagine. Let’s build. 🌱
Thank you to our amazing and talented creators, editors and videographer! @kahibalo.kulai@reeverthingproject

Snake year has offered many opportunities for us to shed. Us as in me and Fred 🐍 Fred as in the part of me who has been so dang scared of letting go of the people, places, habits, health/abilities that I cherish. For better or worse Fred has been scared to shed, stretching himself thin to try to do/be it all. But on this episode of Fred’s Shed Show (Ted talk meets shit show) his community sung him encouragements to release his old beloved garbage bag skin. These gracious participants even showed their own shed dances as we layered this never-before-sung song that came that morning while we were painting. By the end he had a new name, Freddy who is ready to shed-y. May you find your version of support to wiggle out of the old. If you want to make a puppet for a part of u, me and my weirdo friends are here for yous. Ps Freddy finally shed his Spotify account today cause who needs that when ur friends have drums!?
Missing our late Uncle Bob today, a beloved elder, wisdom fountain, love beam, cheerleader to many. Found this pond puppet show we made when we visited him in 2021. He always was a pick me up. The last exchange we had last month was one of his classic lines ~ he walked out the door saying “if I don’t see you in the future, I’ll see you in the pasture” 🍃
Spoiler alert ~ last song of El Splash Zone makes me teary everytime. Nov 8 and 9 come sing and dance and puppet the fears away. Get yr slidey scale tickets w @playgrndexperience
It’s based on the original bilingual interspecies music of @4buelasauce and this cathartic closing from Lu @thepeacepoets
We are delighted to share that applications are now open for the inaugural Somatics of Money (SOM) Funder & Investor Cohort (2026)—a six-month journey starting in Jan 2026 for funders, donors, and investors interested in adopting heart-centered relationships to money. Through this cohort, participants will bridge the inner work of healing our emotional relationships to money with the outer work of shifting resources and building economies where love is the currency.
Applications are open until Nov 14 and we're holding an info session on Oct 30 where you can learn more about SOM, the team, and the cohort.

Our last lib lab session on ✨COMMITMENT✨
A summary of our findings: 🔍🔍🔍
Our hypothesis is that commitment in uncertain times is complicated and requires strong discernment and communication muscles. The laboratory subjects swung across the pendulum extremes from unwavering commitment to ephemeral group experiences, to fervently celebrating “no’s” that arose from deeply personal discernment.
Findings include:
🧬 Rapid facial yoga has been found to be a portal to new character dimensions.
🧪 Amidst shifting internal and external conditions, we practice “making and changing agreements with care” and it is almost 95% of the time awkward.
🐀 A new dating app emerged from the collective unconscious: Comrades in Paradise, where all the descriptions are code language for secret mission instructions
🪞 when internal grapples about a potential commitment arise, it is 85% helpful to ask your friends to display the complex myriad of emotions at play beneath your experience.
🥼 ✨🦠💦🫂🥼
Big gratitude to everyone who made it out! And to everyone from previous sessions who’ve shared reciprocal gratitude by donating to the organization Anar, who is doing arts and play based trauma healing work with formerly detained children and caregivers in the West Bank. We’re excited to continue nourishing our relationship with Anar, both by holding them in our hearts as we heal through play, and by sending monetary donations to sustain their programs. If you are able and feel called we invite you to send over your donation to Venmo @playgrndexperience so we can compile another gift for them ✨
Read about their work!
Gratitude to all the helping hands and hearts that came together to transform this “invasive” English ivy into tea, cough syrup, baskets, crowns, and mythopoetic material for songs and stories. Big feels for ivy; it’s complex 🌀You’ve been a teacher, an obsidian mirror, an accomplice in scaling and tearing down colonial structures, a trickster in also toppling beloved trees and competing with native plants for precious resources… and now a medicinal custodian in deep cleaning the dusty archives of the dark corners of our lungs, all that has been too repressed to grieve. Until now. This medicine is now making its way down to Tongva Lands - with love, solidarity, and shared grief as we learn to dance with the chaotic eco political changes of our times.
For most of my adult-ish life I’ve done some combo of wealth redistribution organizing (return the money, transform capitalism etc) and artist organizing (support artists to reimagine and remember ourselves into transforming capitalism etc). Here comes an experiment combining the two ~ calling all rich anti-capitalist artists ☎️
2. Heres a peak from an article I was interviewed for in Business Insider about the movement to redistribute wealth (I didn’t chose the alias Ash but love the death reference next to the “never done” story). Part of the intention of our funder organizing at art.coop is to contribute to narrative shifts around wealth, enoughness, security, divestment, etc. I guess business articles are one way, and in this cohort we’ll focus on creative process that supports people to go into the shadows, to alchemize shame, to move beyond performing goodness, to share nuanced stories with your communities/families that strengthen solidarity, to unblock flows of capital and resource the leaders of the cultural shifts we need.
3. A couple nights ago I had a dream that featured this crossroads, one way a square wall and the other way a fluid circle. Here’s me doodling my interpretation after reading the news. These days I sometimes dont know what I believe in but this practice group feels like a yes cause I’ve felt what happens at this crossroads when a fear-body nervous system can repattern and ground.
4. A clip from a video I made 7 years ago, my first melodramatic attempt at restorying my relationship to inheritance. This was in response to a collaborator’s invitation to meet them in the vulnerable transparency of internal investigation, a flip of philanthropy demanding bipoc communities write reports about their traumas while the stories of the wealth extraction go hidden in shadows that maintain power.
Check out @_artcoop bio for the full description (deadline can be flexed) and interest form if you wanna stay in the loop about other experiments. thank you @marinamarialopez for dreaming and coparenting this offering with me over the past year 💚🔮
“Solidarity economy needs artists and artists need a solidarity economy.”
Here at Art.coop we are growing towards becoming a hub for artists and culture bearers who make the solidarity economy irresistible.
After this amazing kick off explainer series by Slow Factory and New Economy Coalition, we share some art by artists in the solidarity economy ecosystem. And we need more of it, a renaissance of it across mediums!

This is part 1) of many explainers on countering fascism with solidarity economy. Made in collaboration with @neweconomycoalition we explore and reference deeper analysis on how the solidarity economy counters fascism, and how to organize in ways to protect our communities.
Are you familiar with the solidarity economy?
