We’re Sorry!
In the past month we’ve had multiple customers, including ourselves, who’ve received tickets when the parking machines are down
We’ve been told these new units are solar powered, and when the charge gets too low they don’t accept coin or card
(great idea for areas with no sunlight and -25 conditions)
Our customer demographic is not of the younger generation, with some of them not having the capabilites to download the mobile app. This makes the machines their only option for parking payment
We have called the city about this issue multiple times, almost once a day actually, and the issue continues to happen, hence this social media post
Currently, this issue is affecting business in the downtown area
- Customers feel rushed when they are shopping or eating
- If one machine doesn’t work, they walk around the block just to encounter the same issues with another machine (often in very cold weather conditions)
- When vehicles recieve tickets, customers have to go through the hassle of submitting an appeal
- We’ve even had customers drive here, encounter the problem, and then drive off over the fear of receiving a ticket
Overall, this parking issue causes frustration in customers, and adds onto the growing stack of reasons for downtown avoidance.
Once again we’re sorry for the troubles, it’s beyond our control
