It’s December, so I have finally allowed myself to start listening to Christmas music. The weekend after Thanksgiving unexpectedly featured a lot of Wheeling & Lake Erie action. On Friday, I heard that 614, one of the local jobs, was running to Clairton, thence to Monessen to pick up coke cars. The brief weekday Metroliner. Starting in late February through mid-March, likely in conjunction with the Portal bridge cutover, Amtrak changed which trains ran with a Metroliner cab car south of Philadelphia. Instead of Train 121 running Sundays-only with a cab leading south, Train 126 ran 7 days a week with a cab facing north. I became aware of this change accidentally while railfanning the Susquehanna bridge, and attempted to shoot the return run heading north at Odenton.
