2025 has been one for the ages here at the Red Kite Cafe; we got a new Head Chef in @ithe_plates , who started running our Bistro Nights to showcase the best of Scotlandās seasonal produce š„

š We expanded our FoH team, just in time for our busiest weekend ever for the @colonyofartists festival
š For the first time we hosted a Christmas Giveaway! Our way of saying thank you and giving back to the community

Most of us at the Red Kite wear multiple hats to keep everything running smoothly, and weāre here all hours to get everything ready for service! Everything we sell is made in-house; cakes, sausage rolls, jams, buns, as well of course as the Brunch menu.
š½ļø We work hard to play hard, and itās rare moment there isnāt something yummy being rustled up for you to enjoy.

Our Early Winter Bistro Night was last week, and it went even better than our first one (if we may say so ourselves!) We had three seatings over the evening, guests were treated to six courses designed by @ithe_plates to show off the best of what Scotland has to offer this time of year.
āØ The wine was flowing, the plates scraped clean, and the laughter loud.
Our next event will be in the new year, so keep your eyes peeled if you missed out this time!

š§āš³ Our Chefās days start at 7AM, and from 8.30AM theyāre churning out our brunch menu non-stop until 3PM; at weekends often around 260 covers in a shift!
Any spare moment in the orders becomes an opportunity to top up and prep our stocks, and also create for our savoury counter!

šØ Our next exhibition is here! @teddglen is an artist living in the Abbeyhill Colonies. She draws and paints from life in a spontaneous and playful way. Here work depicts humorous and dramatic scenes influenced by her surrounding and by literature. She is interested in the unexpected, how accidents, gaps and imperfections create pictures in the mind, and how stories arise from this.
š§āšØ Tess has a selection of prints, etchings, and original oil and watercolour paintings for sale, so come in to the cafe to check them out!
