Mortal kombat 2 2026 - A soft reboot- plot finally the tournament- but without the spectacle and magic of 1995. Writing weak, with the tone of action horror switched to action drama. The problem is the plot holes and at times unnecessary explanations. The strong part of this movie is a page out of 1995 fast and loose. Visually stunning, better choices, best fight liu kang vs kung lao. The fighting gets better as the movie goes, but like before end of the second act to the 3rd suffer. Lucky they trimed the fat and it moves fast enough. Worth a watch yes, they gave us what we wanted but i hope they can smash the first movie and the second together to make the perfect 3rd movie. Rating 8.3- 3 main characters drop the score but the fighting and fatalities bring it up a noch. Slowly getting there. #mortalkombat
While revisiting this before the new movie 2021 mortal kombat is the star wars prequels of the mortal kombat movies. Not a bad film, very mutch questionable choices bring the film flow down from achiving 1995 klassic. Like all movies of the 2020s the weakness comes from end of the 2 act leading in to the 3rd act. As well as trying to make you care for a character thats is plot armor literally. Re-watchable yes, subzero being michael myers klassic. If they trimed the second act to include the tournament this would have been the best mortal kombat. But a lass they had to focus on the power of family and plot exposition gimmicks. Plus the goro fight was bullshiz. Too much telling then showing, the scenes that work work because you see, scenes that fail is because I need to tell you I love you lol. 2021 mortal kombat a solid start to what can be a enjoyable trilogy. 8.2 rating #mortalkombat
