Safe for Women?! Lecture and walk by Soroptimistclub Eindhoven. In the Netherlands, 45% of women have experienced physical or sexual violence at some point. Research by Plan International even shows that 83% of girls and young women experience unwanted sexual behavior in public spaces. The urgency is clear: our cities are far from safe for everyone. That is why Soroptimist Club Eindhoven, in collaboration with Red Box, is organizing a powerful program during @dutchdesignweek 2025. Under the theme “Safe for Women?!”, we bring together designers, policymakers, and experts by experience to work on concrete solutions for safer public spaces. Mamamos is a project inspired by designer Charli de Wit’s sister, whose journey through motherhood with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) revealed the often overlooked challenges faced by mothers on the spectrum. Just as moss thrives with care and the right environment, Mamamos creates a supportive, sensory friendly space where mothers with ASD can grow and connect. Through tactile games and gentle interaction, the project fosters recognition, connection, and self acceptance without the pressure to mask or explain. @charli_dewit is a designer and conceptual thinker exploring social themes such as inclusivity, societal systems, and the female body. Her multidisciplinary practice emphasizes the human experience, using art and design to foster connection, engagement, and meaningful societal change through small, intentional interventions. Net als mos dat groeit in de juiste omgeving, creëert Mamamos een ondersteunende, prikkelarme ruimte waarin moeders met ASS kunnen groeien en verbinding kunnen vinden. Met tactiele spellen en zachte vormen van interactie stimuleert het project herkenning, verbinding en zelfacceptatie, zonder de druk om zich aan te passen of uit te leggen. @charli_dewit is een ontwerper en conceptueel denker die maatschappelijke thema’s verkent zoals inclusiviteit, sociale systemen en het vrouwelijke lichaam.
