During the design process, I focused on studying the wings and the strikingly alluring blue feet of the Blue-footed Booby. The bird’s naturally vibrant blue feet became a visual focal point, inspiring me to express this feature through material language. I researched documents and images, analyzing the bird’s movements and shape to incorporate them into my design. Cowhide and mesh fabric were meticulously trimmed into fine strands resembling feathers, creating a light, flowing effect reminiscent of outstretched wings. I combined denim with blue-dyed sheepskin to reflect the bird’s foot color, evoking a blend of ruggedness and modernity. Particularly, I used yarn in shades of white, golden brown, and blue to vividly depict the bird’s neck, belly, and head. Despite limited reference materials, I chose to fuse elements of punk rock, grunge, and a touch of high fashion to balance the wild with the refined. This was a journey of creative inspiration, where nature meets the language of fashion.

This pair of boots draws inspiration from the Egyptian Anubis, the jackal-headed pharaoh symbolizing mystery and power, merged with the rebellious spirit of glam rock, echoing the iconic platform boots worn by bands like The Kiss.
Crafted in glossy black cowhide, the upper adds depth and a commanding presence. The square toe is refined and tapered to balance the bold silhouette with elegance. Four metallic zippers, two on each side, resemble bold earrings adorning the boot, adding a touch of fierce individuality and rock-inspired attitude.
The sole is fully 3D-printed in one piece and finished in metallic silver, evoking the look of futuristic armor. This fusion of traditional leatherwork and cutting-edge technology reflects a design that’s both timeless and forward-thinking.
