On the debut of Anika Nilles with RUSH.
Let thee without drum performance sin, cast the first drum stick
Seeing Rush perform again after 10+ years was beyond awesome. Anika made her debut and as many of us knew, who have watched her for years, that she would be … perfect. Yet there are still those who think somehow she isn’t up to the task. Is it because she’s a woman? Sorry but she more than holds her own to ANY male drummer. You don’t survive this industry with being mediocre especially as session and clinician drummer. Do these naysayers somehow think that the opinion of Geddy’s bass tech Skully recommending to check her out is without merit? He met Anika on the last Jeff Beck tour which brings up the question of whether Jeff Beck, one of the greatest guitarist ever, made a proper decision about her as a drummer for his band. Or that Neil’s drum tech Lorne Wheaton would come out of retirement to just some “fly by night” venture? But most of all, to question the original two guys who picked one of the greatest drummers in the world, who would know if things would work musically, touring for decades, exploring so many musical ideas and would only want the best to keep them inspired… as making the wrong choice? When asked to sum up Anika in one word Geddy responded… Perfect. This is all that matters. I applaud them and hope women in the world everywhere are being inspired not just to become amazing drummers but amazing anything. For Geddy and Alex to not only bring on a drummer after the loss of their amazing friend, let alone a woman, shows unbelievable courage, strength, integrity and that women CAN do this! This shows the true depth of two great friends bringing some of the most amazing music to us and as to what opportunity can bring when someone is given the chance. This and Anika is...Perfect.
Looking forward to the tour!

One person did this. He tanks the market into the trillions upon trillions of dollars. He flip-flops with his bullshit tariff crap. All based on fallacies. And where is the security exchange commission protecting the investor on all of this? And if you dig a little deeper, you'll find out that people in government like Marjorie Taylor Greene sold her stock and put it into treasury bonds before the crash. Then bought a ton of stock from big corporations before this big pump up. Meanwhile, how many of us watched our savings and retirement get decimated With absolutely no control other than to hold. The panic selling may have ensued and destroyed so many. Again, this is complete market manipulation, and for that matter fraud. When do the pitchforks and torches come out people? I recently listened to an interview of the organization that exposed the Panama papers. Not just billionaires, but actual people in government. We're not talking millionaires anymore. We're talking, billionaires. People who don't just own one property but 18! Greed has become unprecedented in this world, and we are getting too distracted with junk media.
Music... is... music. I say that because so much music can be interpreted and played with so many variables. But sometimes at its core, you realize how good the song is when simplified by one musician. Absolutely lovely evening listening to Jacob Moon play prog songs but in his own stylings which are just brilliant and beautiful. And Jacob is no simple musician as he integrates looped passages and weaves an outstanding wall of sound. The variety of songs from different prog bands and his arrangements made you question if this was originally from a prog band. A night to forget the world of troubles. Looking forward to hanging out with him at RUSHFest Canada.
Getting Frisky in Frisco Texas. My journey so far has been pretty good. Gotta say the full self driving has been easily 95% of the trip. Weather is still warm and not sure I'm looking forward to the icy rains back home. Loving the road trip! Rivian charging here too!
