Abaetê: 𝘈𝘣𝘢𝘦𝘵ê⁣ ⁣ 1977, Brazil⁣ ⁣ A rare slab of funky samba, Azymuth-esque back-footed electric piano and squiggly synth grooves along with its Northern Brazilian organic percussion palette and vocal harmonies, make for this undeniable Brazilian classic that too often flies under the radar. Big stack of likeminded Brazilian coming this week 👀

SWING OUT SISTER: 𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘌 𝘔𝘖𝘖𝘋 (𝘋𝘜𝘉𝘉𝘌𝘋-𝘜𝘗 𝘝𝘌𝘙𝘚𝘐𝘖𝘕)⁣ ⁣ 1985, UK⁣ ⁣ An absolute all-time dub from the British synth-poppers best known for “Breakout.” Paul O’Duffy with a beyond ethereal mix here. As best stated by the cover “Vocals that dance, or if you’re in the mood for listening sit this one out.” Deep & cheap!

🌀FRIDAY NIGHT🌀 Record Dogo monthly “Throwing Shapes” returns to @shyboy.hifi with special guest Marco Weibel, who we’re thrilled to be hosting for his first foray in Dallas.⁣ ⁣ Whether it’s through his work with the fantastic Singapore label @darkerthanwax (which he co-runs), or his decade-long run on @thelotradio , Marco has quietly amassed a loyal following of both listeners & clubgoers.⁣ ⁣ Originally from Singapore but based in NYC since 2014, Marco comes from a rich cultural heritage that’s reflected in his far-ranging sets, seamlessly jumping from dub to Chicago House to Jungle.⁣..all things we can’t wait for him to bring on this system. ⁣ Dogo Boys @cvfields & @biznizz_casual will be kicking things off at 8, with Marco goin’ late!

NELSON AYRES: 𝘕𝘌𝘓𝘚𝘖𝘕 𝘈𝘠𝘙𝘌𝘚⁣ ⁣ 1978, Brazil⁣ ⁣ Insane jazz fusion from the iconic Brazilian pianist/composer, most known for his work with Tom Ze. Part of Polygram’s 11 LP Música Popular Brasileira Contemporânea series, this one has less to do with MPB or Brazilian pop, and much more to do with samba and forró inspired JAZZ. Too many rippers to count here, but “Mientras” and “Does Tempos” are heavy DOGO favorites. Bonus points for this signed copy with “much affection” from Mr. Ayres himself.

Doing our best to maintain a heavy (AND HEADY) flow of original Japanese favorites in stock. Whether in need of YMO-familial synthies, jazz-funk, environmental ambiance, or city-poppers, we likely have somethin’ for ya. Some rare sought-afters, some cheap unknowns. Another nice box coming next week!

ROZLYNE CLARKE: 𝘋𝘈𝘕𝘊𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘐𝘚 𝘓𝘐𝘒𝘌 𝘔𝘈𝘒𝘐𝘕𝘎 𝘓𝘖𝘝𝘌 (𝟷𝟸”)⁣ ⁣ 1991, Belgium⁣ ⁣ Hacienda house heater out of Belgium. Driving bass line, warm pads, and a perfect dose of prog. Partial to the beautiful vocals of Miss Clarke, but “Dub 2” on the flip is also certainly worth your time.
