Suzanne’s Boy. SS26 by Ely Warner Davis A collection rooted in identity, personal history, British culture, and inherited rebellion. Inspired by my father’s life in 1980s London punk, and the music I grew up on, from Sex Pistols to Ian Dury, this work reflects a dialogue between past and present. Classic punk codes are reworked through my lens, biker silhouettes, rough denims, red tartans, and DIY processes such as bleach, distressing, and raw graphic application. References to institutions like Oxford sit alongside nods to counterculture, creating tension between establishment and resistance. At its core, this collection is about memory and transformation. Garments are worn, repaired, and faded, built to feel lived in, carrying stories of use and time. Personal narrative is embedded directly into the work, most explicitly in a T shirt printed with my parents’ divorce settlement, turning something deeply personal and painful into something permanent, and something worn. Military influences and Japanese construction techniques run throughout, with functional silhouettes and details like orange linings referencing MA 1 flight jackets. This is about where I come from, and how I choose to reinterpret it.
