Every Chinese New Year, I somehow find myself the urge to write a song, or create a cover song, often simply for the sake of creating content, keeping the tradition alive....
But this year… felt different....A little last minute, yes. But something very real happened....
With the presence of
@wensuen.official , a voice I’ve long admired, we finally created something together. I’ve always hoped our paths would cross musically on the LIVE stage or creating something original, and when the moment came, she poured her heart into the lyrics that very night.
For the first time in my life, a song was written remotely… through late-night WhatsApp voice notes, exchanged across distance, guided purely by instinct and trust.
Then came my brother in music, lyricist, co-producer, arranger - the ever brilliant
@brendonsevan , who set the foundation in motion. From there, we brought it into the hands of
@goldensoundstudiosmy , with my favorite recording engineer
@recklessescapades .
And just when I thought the colors were complete, Suen introduced Master Gu Zheng player
@cloud_teo into the Picture.
The textures, timbre & colours were totally transformed and even I felt like I had to step my Violin recording up too!
It really feels like the most authentic collaboration of East meets West! Because Cloud is indeed really so damn good....
What began as a simple collaboration with my longtime comrade on stage,
@VinnPang the Speed Painter, quietly evolved into a full original work.
And with that, we mark 12 years of performing together.
We started 12 years ago… with a painting of a horse. Now here we are again...older, wiser, hopefully a little better at our craft!
