🗓️ 8.-9. 10. 2025 ARCHITECTURE IN TRANSFORMATION: RAČJI DVOR BETWEEN HISTORY AND THE FUTURE Račji dvor, Maribor, Slovenia Last week, Račji dvor came alive with architecture, art, and dialogue. At the opening of two architectural and artistic interventions by young architects Ishak Hadžibajrić, Žiga Miholič, Maša Perc, and Lena Uranjek, visitors experienced the space in a new way—through play, movement, and conversation about the future of Račji dvor. Students from the workshop, modarated by Melita Rozman Cafuta, PhD and Stojan Skalicky, presented their visions for the development of the area, while historian Boris Hajdinjak took us on a journey through the rich history of the site below Kalvarija. #recitying #recityingproject #euproject #creativeeurope 📷 Maribor Art Gallery / J. Maša Perc & Žiga Miholič: Palette of Activities 638 497/3. 2025, installation; wooden pillars, acrylic paint, tartan Two young Maribor residents, both architecture students, focus their intervention on the area around Račji dvor and the activities most commonly practiced there—walking, running, and relaxing in nature. The walk from the city center to Mitnica, along the tree-lined avenue, past Račji dvor and under Kalvarija back to the city park is a “Maribor classic.” By placing wooden elements on the lawn and a sports surface on the concrete platform in front of the mansion, the authors invite visitors to the temporary outdoor gym and one of the most beautiful and relaxing areas of the estate. Maša Perc studies architecture at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana. Growing up, she traveled a lot, discovering different cities, lifestyles, and cultures, which sparked her interest in architecture. After completing a one-month architecture and design course at the University of Arts London, she knew this was the path she wanted to follow. Since the beginning of her studies in Ljubljana, she has been attending the Sadar Seminar. Through her studies, she has explored various ways of developing concepts and connecting them with users, a particular space, and its programme and content. Žiga Miholič currently pursues a master’s degree in architecture at the University of Maribor. He has been interested in architecture since childhood, strongly influenced by his father, who is also an architect. In addition to spatial design and art, Žiga is fascinated by construction itself, as he enjoys the entire process – from the initial concept to the final realization. His other passion is sports, especially running. #recitying #installation #wood #tartan #architecture #račjidvor #spatialdesign #heritage

Lena Uranjek & Ishak Hadžibajrić: WHERE ARE YOU, RAČJI DVOR? 2025, installation; cotton sheets, wooden pillars, metal wire The young architectural team from Maribor and Sarajevo intervenes in the Račji dvor estate with an artistic intervention that is both lyrical and playful. Sheets stretched across main spots surrounding the mansion form an interactive map that invites adults passing by to explore the space and younger visitors to play hide and seek. The rows of white sheets serve as both a visual and physical barrier, obscuring the view while inviting passage; they are tactile elements that evoke memories of summer days spent outdoors and a childlike sense of playfulness. Equipped with pictograms and historical facts, they form a dynamic border around the mansion. Lena Uranjek, born in Maribor, is a student of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana. She studied in Spain for two semesters, wanting to learn about different approaches to architecture and life in general. At this point, she is unsure whether she will pursue a career in architecture, as she is more drawn to applying her architectural knowledge in other creative fields, such as tattooing, film, and graphic design. Ishak Hadžibajrić, born in Sarajevo, is a student of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana. He participated in the workshop “Connected With Water: Wooden Interventions at Trojiško Lake” (DESSA Gallery). In the world of architecture, he is not interested in classic projects, but rather in innovative, unusual, and simple solutions that counteract the consumerist mentality. We want dedicated this post to inform you that prof. Manuel Gausa has passed away on 23th of August. We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of the principal investigator of the Recitying project, a colleague, friend, and companion on our adventures. Every project and piece of research was a collective adventure with him; every solution an invention. Manuel had the ability to transform everything into moments of genuine interaction, converting challenges into opportunities to create innovative solutions. This light-heartedness, which stemmed from profound intelligence and trust in others is perhaps his most precious legacy. Today, we are all in great pain, however, we believe the best way to honour him is to continue cultivating that spirit: working together, sharing openly, and facing challenges with the same energy and smile he gave us.
