I wanna share this tweet.
It meant a lot to me because at heart I’m a perspective based story teller. I struggle not putting a message into my music. I struggle to not want to try to reach someone within the words but in this industry we’re pushed so much to not care so much about the lyrics or message and to just focus on the music. Unlike other lyricist, I actually agree with that. A message can be missed completely if the sonics aren’t appealing n the same way a message from a friend can be missed if the delivery isn’t right.
The music is great, the production is some of the best I’ve had, (in my opinion) but at heart, this is what I was trying to convey. Everyday there’s think pieces on what men should do better or what women should do better. But ultimately we’ve all been conditioned to love a certain way. It takes a lot of healing to get outta that.
