Recently we told you about a special project involving Spanish muralist Marina Capdevila, coming to St. Pete, about the pervasive attitudes regarding women and aging. "We are still fundraising for the project and looking for sponsors," Jenee Priebe of No Good Deeds Art said of the project she is collaborating on with the Museum of Motherhood. Read the story and please help spread the word. How do we always find ourselves back fighting the same battles? When do we progess in this world in cultivating tolerance and equality...when do we expand our collective humanity and empathy. Is it really easier to choose hate over love? Gay rights, women's rights, black rights, trans rights, immigrant rights, due process rights, equal protection rights...these are all HUMAN rights and being human is often the only thing we have in common...open your mind and your heart even when it challenges your beliefs. #humanity #intolerance #lovewins #openyourmind #freeyourmind #fightintolerance #empathy #gayrights #humanrights #controversy #questiontheestablishment #speakup #raiseyourvoice #fighthate #fightignorance #bethechange

Wanted to share a fun little life update. I have a new gig in my (relatively new) home.⁣ ⁣ Okay, so I've actually been living in St. Petersburg, Florida, for a couple of years now (No, it’s not the same as Tampa… though we are neighboring cities on different sides of Tampa Bay). St. Pete is a place that really feels like "home" at this point in my life. There's been a lot of positive coverage of the city in the media recently, including the recent New York Times article "36 Hours in St. Petersburg, Fla." by local travel journalist and former diplomat Dave Seminara, who shared, “It’s a booming and contradictory place that’s cool but unpretentious… Those in search of a cultural oasis with pristine beaches, warm weather, and plenty of character will find that St. Pete is back open for business and as appealing as ever.”⁣ ⁣ His words not only tip to the special vibe of St. Pete (or the Burg, as the locals call it), but also the community's unity in recovering from the devastation wrought by the relentless back-to-back hurricanes we experienced late last year. We are also known as the “Sunshine City” as we hold the Guinness world record for the most consecutive days of sunshine (768 days) with an average of some 361 days of sunshine each year. ⁣ ⁣ Having lived in some great cities, including NYC, London, and DC, I can honestly say that there is something special going on here. The city is really an oasis amid the larger reality of living in Florida. It has a cool energy, a vibrant cultural scene, and is growing in so many exciting ways—and I don’t mean just real estate development and an influx of new residents and tourism. It is a spirited place with a contemporary sophistication and a “livable” culture, successfully growing into a balanced society, as far as the environment and the cultural scene.⁣ ⁣ I recently took over as the Editor in Chief and Creative Director of the city’s leading lifestyle magazine, St. Pete Life, and my first official issue is out with the incomparable Angela Bassett on the cover. As many of you know, I have interviewed a lot of phenomenal personalities, but it’s always a distinct pleasure when someone exceeds your expectations. Al
