I’ve had to wait a little while to post about this and man is it so exciting so here we go.
I’ve been given The Zev Award (in honor of Dorian Kweller) as a part of the Austin Music Awards!!! This is for Musicians 18 & Under, and includes a $2,000 grant to help in one’s musical endeavors. It seems so unreal, but what an amazing thing! First time Dorian ever played guitar on stage was during my soundcheck at Paper Tiger in San Antonio back when he was about 7. His brother Judah (5 at the time) played the drums. Dorian had such a knack for freestyling riffs and melodies even back when he could barely hold the guitar.damn what a ripper he was!!!! That stage will always have a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to return there on November 12th. ❤️
2024 BK Poster reveal ✨ Limited Edition (100) ✨ This year saw the opening of the Dorian Zev Kweller Memorial Skatepark in Dripping Springs, TX. This park was in the works for years, spearheaded by Dennis Baldwin and his gang of young skaters (Dorian among them). When Dorian died, the community came together and voted to name the park after him. This was literally the week he left us, so Liz and I were unaware that the vote was taking place. We are forever grateful for Dennis, the skaters, and the great people of Dripping Springs who memorialized our son in such a beautiful way. He was really, really looking forward to the completion of the park and I’m sure his spirit visits there every day. 🪽🪽 Design by Matt Dawson
The DZK opens to the public this Saturday July 27th at 9:30am! 🛹 For 10 years, the skate community of Dripping Springs has been developing a park that we can call our own. My son Dorian Zev was an active member of this community and dreamt of the day that the park would be ready for him and his friends. He was abruptly taken from us before he was able to lay his trucks down on this sweet concrete. The new park is named after him and will be a reminder of his shining light. Please join us on Saturday morning for the opening ceremony. Type “Founders Park” into Google Maps and you’ll find the skate park on the north side.
