Standing-room-only, long Q&A, and a lot of thoughtful conversations afterward ... good sign that creativity and tools still matter to students and artists.

This past Thursday @real_dylan_sisson —Head of @pixarsrenderman Creative Engagement—gave attendees a behind‑the‑scenes look at the CSI animation and walked us through the shift from CPU to XPU rendering at the @dell stage at @gnomon_school . So much insight into how technology and storytelling come together in Pixar’s pipeline. I had such a great time and left feeling totally inspired!

Of the Toy Story movies which one is your favorite? I think the first one is always going to have a special place in my heart, but I’m definitely curious to see how the 5th one plays out!

Dylan Sisson is a seasoned digital artist with over 25 years of expertise in animation and visual effects. He's been a key figure at Pixar Animation Studios since 1999, significantly contributing to the evolution and promotion of RenderMan. Additionally, Dylan is the creator and designer of Pixar’s RenderMan Walking Teapot. In addition to his role at Pixar, today Dylan is an active artist exploring emerging media in VR, AI, 3D printing, and stylized rendering. He is dedicated to exploring the potential of new technologies and inspiring others to do the same.

Calling all Pixar fans! Join us on Thursday, January 29th for an in-person only event with Dylan Sisson (Head of RenderMan Creative Engagement, Pixar Animation Studios), featuring insights into Pixar’s next generation of rendering.
This talk includes a behind-the-scenes look at how XPU is being rolled out on Toy Story 5. We’ll screen the first 72 seconds of the unreleased Toy Story 5, rendered in XPU!
Dylan will explore how XPU is being used in real production, and how it’s helping filmmakers work faster, explore farther, and deepen the craft of animation.
