Excited to share the official book cover for my first screenplay book! The screenplay book will be published with a screenplay in French and a screenplay in English, so everyone I love can read it :) As some of you may know, I’ve been working on ScriptLit and this screenplay book for a year now, I can’t wait to share more about the movement and the screenplay books in my vault ;) I wrote this film as an homage to La Noire de…/ Black Girl to Ousmane Sembène, and to all the Afropean women and girls who never feel seen and well represented in the film industry. Thanks to my Leo sister @maryaventurart for the amazing film poster for the book cover!🧡✨ I’ll be more active on this new account for all things creative, so make sure to follow me on @thoughtblackdaughter and @readscriptlit 🥰

The start of a new chapter ✨ 🙌🏾 I’ve been working on this for a year now, it’s been the most exciting project I’ve had so far amd I can’t wait to share more about it with as many people as possible. ScriptLit is a chance for all visual storytellers to gain recognition for their work, the focus is on screenwriters AND audiences who are craving new films and tv shows to read and discover before the film and tv industry catches on. The future is #ScriptLit, don’t miss the 🚝😌 Follow @readscriptlit for what’s next ! 📸 : @maryaznam 😘

Today, I picked up a copy of my first screenplay book, L’Afropéenne de / Afropean Girl, a story set in the 60s, about a young African student in Paris who’s navigating the challenges of French society. I wanted to write a feature length script before my birthday (in a few minutes as I’m writing this caption lol) and I’m so proud to share the first prototype. I’ve worked on @readscriptlit for a few months now and I truly believe it could legitimise screenplay books as literary art, for both emerging and established screenwriters and storytellers. It should be as natural as reading novels, poetry, plays or graphic novels. I fell in love with Normal People the Scripts and A24’s Past Lives screenplay book (all their screenplay books really!). If you are a lover of film, tv shows and books, then I invite you to follow my journey as I release this first title soon while working on future ones. Thanks to my amazing friends for their support alongside this journey, I’m excited to share more soon 💕

And it’s out! My article on @readscriptlit has been published by @reclamationmagazine (thanks for the feature ✨) I’ve been developing ScriptLit® since the beginning of this year: a new literary movement, screenplays as books and the recognition of screenwriting as a literary art form in its own right. Inspired by the screenplays of Normal People, Fleabag, and Past Lives, I asked myself: what if we could read cinema and series on the page, and give screenwriters the same recognition as novelists and playwrights? My first ScriptLit book, L’Afropéenne de / Afropean Girl, will be shown at a launch event this October. Stay tuned for more details, and read the full article via the link in my bio 🥰 @readscriptlit #ScriptLit #ScreenLiterature #Publishing #CinemaOnThePage

I am pleased to invite you to my upcoming photography exhibition, AFROPEAN GIRL. This exhibition is part of my master’s thesis, exploring how visual storytelling can be used as a tool of liberation and representation for Black women in the diaspora. Growing up in predominantly white spaces, I often felt invisible and misunderstood. AFROPEAN GIRL is my way of reclaiming my narrative. This project is dedicated to all the Black women who continue to fight for their place in the world and to those who seek to understand our journey. This exhibition is made possible with the generous support of VIA Regional Berlin/Brandenburg, the external coordination and specialist office of the district partnership for democracy in Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Their commitment to anti-discrimination and anti-racism has been instrumental in bringing AFROPEAN GIRL to life. Vernissage on Friday the 19th of July from 6:30pm to 9pm Saturday the 20th of July from 2pm to 8:30pm! Tell a friend to tell a friend and book your free ticket with the link in my bio! ✨💅🏾💅🏾 Poster design and picture @brianngugix
