An evening celebrating creativity across Art, Dance, Drama and Music 🎭🎨🎶
On Tuesday, students took to the stage at the Alan Cornish Theatre for our Visual & Performing Arts Showcase Evening, sharing an inspiring programme of performances and exhibiting outstanding artwork from across the school community.
Parents enjoyed exploring the Art Exhibition ahead of the main showcase, accompanied by live music from our talented student musicians. The evening then moved into a vibrant programme of Dance, Drama and Music performances, reflecting the creativity, confidence and individuality of our students.
Thank you to all students and staff involved in bringing the evening together, and to everyone who joined us to support and celebrate the arts at Reading Blue Coat.

Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Highlights 🥾
Our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh groups enjoyed a fantastic qualifier expedition, making the most of the beautiful weather while showing brilliant teamwork and growing confidence in navigation and campcraft.
Meanwhile, our Gold DofE teams faced much tougher conditions on their practice expedition, with rain and challenging weather testing their determination. The students showed real adaptability and supported one another throughout, completing the expedition in great spirits and gaining valuable experience ahead of their qualifying expedition.
A huge well done to all involved for their positivity, perseverance and teamwork. Special thanks to Mr Twigg and Mrs Calaldo for coordinating the expeditions 👏🥾

A brilliant season for Blue Coat football ⚽️
Our 2nd XI made history by winning the CISL 2nd XI title for the first time, finishing the league season with a 100% win record and securing the trophy with a 5–0 victory over Marlborough College 👏
There was also county recognition for Year 11 student Lucas B, who represented Berkshire Schools’ FA at U16 level after scoring 10 goals in 17 appearances for the 1st XI this season.
Year 8 student Alex D continues to impress at Reading FC Academy, regularly competing against top clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.
An exciting year for football at Blue Coat with plenty to celebrate both on and off the pitch ⚽️💙

There was a real sense of togetherness this last Friday as we gathered for our Year 13 Malthus Service followed by their Leavers’ Breakfast before students headed off on exam leave.
For many, Reading Blue Coat has been home since Year 7, while others joined us in Sixth Form and quickly became such an important part of the community. Over the years, friendships have grown, memories have been made, and strong bonds have formed between students and staff alike, which made saying goodbye feel especially emotional.
The morning was filled with smiles, speeches, laughter and plenty of yearbook signing as students reflected on their time at school and looked ahead to the next chapter.
We are incredibly proud of everything this year group has achieved and wish them the very best of luck in their upcoming A Level exams 💙

Marlow Spring Regatta and Wallingford Regatta
Last weekend saw our Year 9s compete in their first regatta at Marlow Spring. The Boat Club had two Octos and four Quads racing throughout the day against some of the top clubs and schools in the Thames Valley. During stunning sunshine and torrential rain, the students raced hard and gain valuable experience.
The following day, our older years raced in J15 8+, J18 8+, Challenge (adult) 8+ and WJ18 2x at Wallingford Regatta. In Challenge 8+s, the First 8+ went head to head against the countries leading men’s crews including London RC and Leander Club featuring two OBs Ben and Isaac. Well done to all our racing crews. Thank you to the organisers and volunteers from @marlow_rowing , @wallingfordregatta and @wallingford_rc .
The Boat Club is now gearing up for back-to-back race weekends, starting with the Poplar Regatta next weekend and followed by the National Schools’ Regatta.

Exploring a whole new world beneath the surface 🌊🤿
Over the Easter holiday, ten members of Reading Blue Coat’s Sub-Aqua Club travelled to Lanzarote to complete their Ocean Diver qualification with Safari Diving, led by Mr Hickman and Mr Smith.
After completing their theory and pool sessions in school, students spent the week developing their open water skills, exploring reefs and wrecks up to 20m deep, and gaining hands-on diving experience in the Atlantic Ocean.
One unforgettable highlight came during a night dive, when the group encountered a free-swimming angel shark illuminated by torchlight 🦈
A fantastic achievement and an incredible experience for everyone involved.
