It’s a beautiful day outside. You sit at the bar in the early evening for a vermouth. A regiment of small plates with assorted snacks in neutral tones surges in front of you, one of them being margarine on toast, the toast daintily cut in 8 and sprinkled with oregano. To your left, a young man reads Jean Cocteau (the journals). On your right, a young man reads Jean Cocteau (The script from Beauty and the Beast). Quick to assume a sign, you decide at once to take up smoking again.
As summer approaches, we advise you toss away the treacherous health advice of the customary press and take your body sculpting counsel from Kingsley Amis: with the first issue of Cream, stay on top of all your games at once.
Since 2023, Alfredo Martorelli has been slinging a twin-lens Rolleiflex over his shoulder and settling at a café on Campo Santa Margherita in Venice - collecting portraits of friends, regulars, artists, tourists, bohemians, and every other form of lagoon life. He has since continued in bars and cafés across Italy and beyond. When he isn’t taking pictures at the bar, he teaches philosophy, works as a watchmaker or curates exhibitions for Macchiato, a Venice based art collective (@macchiato.celebratioartis )
You can find exclusive photographs from Alfredo in the first issue of Cream
