One of our grade 4 participants was asked to spell the word Gratitude, the pronouncer defined the word as “The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation”. Today we show nothing but gratitude to everyone who made our first Read Alex Spelling Bee a success. A total of 30 grade 4 and grade 6 learners, did not only showcase the great work that is done in our local schools but reaffirmed our hope in the future.
The grade 4 competition kicked off with 12 participants, and went through multiple rounds before the top 3 that were to compete in the final round were decided. Nobuhle Ndebele, from Zenzeleni Primary, and Bothlale Maphosa, and Rendani Ndwambi, both from Ikage Primary, finished positions 1,2 and 3 respectively.
Shortly after the grade 4 competition, a total of 18 Grade 6 learners took the stage, delivering another round of fierce competition, at some point one of our judges,
@nthabi_kgosana , exclaimed that we were running out of dictionary words, a sentiment shared by our Pronouncer,
@theekarabomasemola . The final grade 6 winner was Bophelo Matsemela from
@iphuthengprimaryschool Primary, with Ithandile Njele from Zenzeleni Primary and Zinhle Ntombela from Green Digital Approach, finishing second and third respectively.
The day was made great by all the different contributors, We would like to extend our gratitude to the schools and teachers, who ensured that the learners were well prepared. Our Partners

This is the first of many such events that
