New research continues to support what we often discuss with patients in studio: skin health can be supported from within as well as on the surface.
A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology reviewed 7 randomized controlled trials evaluating oral hyaluronic acid supplementation and its effect on visible signs of skin aging. Across studies, researchers observed statistically significant improvements in skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkle depth.
What this means in practice is that an oral hyaluronic acid may help to support the skin’s moisture balance and structural resilience over time. It’s not a replacement for topical skincare or in-studio treatments, but it can be a useful part of a layered, preventative approach to maintaining skin quality.
