One of our favorite graduation views is the backs of our graduates’ caps, decorated with pride, personality, and all the heart that brought them to this moment. These future nurses are stepping into their next chapter with so much spirit, and we couldn’t be prouder of all they’ve accomplished. 💙🎓✨

From serving the KC community to playing sand volleyball, racing, Mario, kart, cuddling support, pups during finals week, and squeezing in a little learning in between, our past few weeks have been packed! ✨ Here is a glimpse into the fun that comes with being a nursing school student.💙
Last week, our newest cohort of accelerated nursing students arrived for Orientation, and today they stepped into their very first class! The adventure is just beginning, and we are so excited to cheer them on as they start their journey toward becoming nurses 💙📚✨
🌟 Happy Nurses Week to Our Soon to Be Nurses 🌟
This Nurses Week, we are celebrating our incredible graduating class as they prepare to step into the nursing profession. Last week, we gathered for our Senior Awards Breakfast and honored our outstanding award nominees. The winners will be announced during the graduation ceremony tomorrow, and we cannot wait to recognize their achievements.
Tomorrow, our seniors will walk across the stage and mark an important milestone in their journey. Next comes the NCLEX, and then their official transition into the nursing field begins.
We are proud of the compassion, strength, and dedication they have shown throughout their time with us. Their future is bright, and the impact they will make is meaningful.
Here is to our graduates and the amazing nurses they are about to become. 💙
Celebrating Dr. Amy Townsend, RCoN President! 🎉
In just under a year, her leadership has accelerated progress at the college — expanding opportunities for students, deepening community partnerships, and guiding the launch of our new state‑of‑the‑art facility.📚
Her work has earned her a spot on the Kansas City Business Journal’s Top 20 Educators to Know, recognizing leaders shaping the future of education in our region. ✨
We’re grateful for her vision and proud to have her at the helm. 💙

Last Wednesday, we celebrated more than a ribbon cutting. We celebrated a major step forward for RCoN and for the future of nursing education.✨
Our new facility was designed to reflect how students learn best today: connected, collaborative, and grounded in real‑world experience. This space allows us to educate more students each year, expand hands‑on learning through modern simulation and collaborative classrooms, and support new programs built with today’s learners and tomorrow’s workforce in mind.📚
This milestone represents meaningful momentum for our students, our faculty and staff, our partners across HCA Midwest Health, and our community. Inside these walls, confidence is built, compassion is strengthened, and careers take shape.💙
We are incredibly proud of what this represents and deeply grateful to everyone who helped make it possible. For more than a century, we have been caring for Kansas City, and this space reflects our continued commitment to educating the next generation of nurses. We are excited for what comes next.✨
Student Spotlights of the Month✨
This month, we are proud to recognize two outstanding students whose dedication, character, and commitment to their peers truly embody the spirit of our nursing community.
Lauren (TBSN 26 ) continues to set an exceptional example through her professionalism, work ethic, and leadership. She consistently goes above and beyond, supporting the cohort behind her and strengthening our collaborative learning environment. Her dedication shines in everything she does, and we are grateful for the positive impact she makes each day.✨
Lisa (TBSN 27) brings warmth and encouragement to everyone around her. She is known for checking in on classmates, offering support, and creating a welcoming, uplifting atmosphere. Her kindness, generosity, and genuine care for others brighten our community and make her a joy to learn alongside. ✨
Please join us in celebrating Lauren and Lisa for their compassion, their contributions, and the example they set for all of us. Their efforts strengthen our program and inspire those who follow in their footsteps.
Last month, our RCoN students had an incredible experience at @oprmc_hcamidwesthealth during their first‑ever Student Night. What was planned as a one‑hour event quickly turned into a much longer evening because our students simply didn’t want to leave. ✨
RCoN students toured the facility, connected with OPR staff, and asked thoughtful, insightful questions about clinical practice and future career pathways.
Throughout the night, students explored key areas of the hospital, including the emergency department and trauma bay, where they got an up‑close look at the tools, workflows, and fast‑paced environment that support patient care. They also had the chance to learn about nurse extern roles, shadowing opportunities, and residency programs, gaining a clearer picture of what their future careers could look like.
Thank you to the team at OPR who made this incredible event possible. 💪💙
Which nursing program is the GOAT? RCoN. 🐐😎
Our students prove it every day by serving the community. ABSN students have spent this term volunteering throughout their population health course, from helping outdoors at Drumm Farm to supporting tiny humans and their families at Happy Bottoms.
Giving back is who we are, and our students live that mission with heart.💙
