@adore.syddd : This project has been something truly personal for me! I knew from the moment that I heard ‘Worst Behaviour’ ft. Kehlani that I wanted to create choreography. After viewing the music video I also knew that I wanted to create visuals!
During this process there were moments that I doubted that I would be able to pull everything together because I felt that maybe it was an idea too big to achieve. Knowing I had to come up with choreography as well as find dancers who I thought would bring my vision to life, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
I couldn’t be more proud of the dancers that I chose to collaborate with because they also pushed me to actually make this idea turn into a reality. Between late night lab sessions, weekend practices, and constant ideas being thrown inside of the group chat to help with choreography they helped make my first personal project come to life.

because without y’all I wouldn’t have been able to go outside of my comfort zone and create this project. Muted to Magnificent is a 90-second dance film that follows the journey of a Black woman navigating adversity while seeking belonging and self-acceptance. Rejected from an organization, though a legacy, despite being shaped by Black cultural institutions, she turns to social media as an outlet—only to face censorship that silences her identity as a queer woman. In the corporate world, she confronts discrimination for her natural hair, but the CROWN Act becomes her shield. Through a fusion of jazz and ballet, movement illustrates her internal and external battles. Ultimately, she reclaims her voice, her space, and her power by getting into the organizations graduate chapter, embracing the divine timing of her journey. A TWIX Hause Films production, this piece visualizes resilience, self-discovery, and the unbreakable spirit of Black womanhood.

For our dance for camera midterm, we had specific prompts to follow, mute with little to no pedestrian form, black and white or extremely vibrant colors. With this all together, muted to magnificence was created. Thank you to, @sxvonna@danaysiia@quezz.ie@jordyn.skyeee and everyone in our cast for making this film possible. Thank you @cicikelley for once again challenging the notions of how far dance can be taken 🍫🩷
