Happy release day! Today ”The Ghost of a Future Dead” by @atthegates_official is finally out in the wild. Glad to finally get to share my artwork and packaging design with you in the real world. I sure hope you like it. The wild and violently unbound night ocean rises into the cosmos. Somewhere within the unfathomable rests everything and nothing. The birth of all things. The death of all things. The visual concept for the album grew out of a desire to translate the emotional and psychological weight of the music into image form. Rather than illustrating the lyrics literally, the aim was to create something that carried the same sense of dread, grandeur and existential terror — a landscape of inner collapse and cosmic scale, where human suffering meets something far older, larger and impossible to comprehend. It became an attempt to give shape to fear itself, not as cliché, but as atmosphere, force and vastness. A more in-depth presentation of the artwork and the concept will come later. It’s a fantastic album! Play it loud! This one is for you, Tomas! 💚🖤 Skål!

NEW DESIGN WORK! Album packaging design for "Against The Dying Of The Light" — the fifth album by @jose.gonz.music – out today! I designed the album packaging for both LP (gatefold) and CD (digisleeve), released via City Slang (Europe) and Mute(North America). The wonderful illustrations were created by Hannele Fernström, based on a visual concept developed together with José González. My role was to shape and translate this into a cohesive packaging system – working with typography, structure, and sequencing to create a unified visual experience across formats. The title typography is based on an early, unfinished draft of a hand-drawn gothic typeface I’ve been developing over the past year. At the time, the font didn’t yet exist as a working typeface – each letter (with multiple variations) was manually composed and applied throughout the design, allowing for a more organic and shifting expression. For 20 years, Suicide Records has been a steady part of the underground in Sweden, later expanding the network outside of the borders. A label built on stubbornness, integrity, and not wanting to compromise. For two decades, Suicide Records have been releasing records because they are great and they felt right — not because of trends, not because of numbers, not because of what was expected. To mark this, Suicide Records Fest – 20 Years Of Resistance, will take place! A two-day gathering focused on music, community and simply keeping the resistance alive. This isn’t about nostalgia or looking back too much, this is about standing by the same ideas that have always driven the label. The fest brings together bands that, in different ways, are connected to Suicide Records and have been part of shaping its journey and versatile catalog. Together, these bands show the range of what Suicide Records has been all about over the years — from hardcore and crust to doom, sludge, and extreme metal. Different sounds, same mindset: independence, resistance, and a strong link to the metal and punk community . Suicide Records Fest is more than just a celebration. It is a thank you to all the bands, all the releases, all the shows, and all of YOU people who have kept this going for 20 years. Proof that resistance can be long-term. This is our statement. GHOSTLY ECHOES OF THE FUTURE Swedish Melodic Thrash/Death Metal titans, At The Gates, surprised the global Metal community after announcing the release of their upcoming album "The Ghost Of A Future Dead.” This is the last studio record to feature legendary vocalist, Tomas Lindberg, who passed last year. The cover/layout artwork were created by Gothenburg-based graphic artist, Robert Samsonowitz of RBRT Creative. "Since the autumn of 2023, I’ve been working with At The Gates on the visual identity and artwork for their upcoming album," Samsonowitz says. He doesn't offer much information about the concept but reveals that "Tomas was deeply involved in the process. He cared intensely about how the music and his lyrics translated visually, and our conversations around the concept meant a lot to me. I developed the full artwork direction, and by April 2025 the front and back cover were approved—something he was genuinely excited about. Äppelfära – Apple & Ginger Juice. Continuing my collaboration with Lödöse Musteri, I developed the label for their newest addition: Äppelfära — a bold blend of apple juice and ginger. Built on the packaging system I previously created, the design combines a hand-drawn illustration with a color-coded square framing the name and logo. The system is designed to evolve — structured enough to create recognition, flexible enough to give each flavor its own personality. The illustration for this label was drawn using a Pilot Parallel Pen with De Atramentis Document Ink, bringing a tactile, expressive quality to the final result. #artdirection, #labeldesign #graphicdesign and #packagingdesign by #rbrtcreative in 2025. Burst: A Labyrinth of Layers Box Set #artdirection, #graphicdesign, #packagingdesign and #illustration by #rbrtcreative in 2022. Starring: @pelagic_records as the client, @burstsweden as the artist Burst defies musical boundaries. Their sound weaves through progressive metal, post-metal, hardcore, math rock, post-hardcore and post-rock, making them a challenge to label. With one foot firmly planted in the gritty depths of hardcore and metal, and the other rooted in 70s progressive rock, they’ve carved out a musical universe entirely their own. When Burst approached me to design the box set and LP reissues for Pelagic Records, I set out to visually interpret their rich and layered sound. Drawing inspiration from the title A Labyrinth of Layers, I created an illustration for the box set combining their origins and the boundless landscapes their music explores. The artwork ties together the band’s local heritage with the unknown. The box packaging features black-and-white offset printing on semi-matte coated paper, with the illustration and typography on the top of the lid in silver hot foil stamping. Inside, the set includes three of Burst’s seminal albums – Prey On Life (2003), Origo (2005), and Lazarus Bird (2008) – originally released on @relapserecords . Each album artwork feature a signature metallic Pantone colour. Prey On Life is Pantone 871c (gold), Origo is Pantone 877c (silver) and Lazarus Bird is Pantone 876c (copper). These signature metallics are used on various graphics and typography for each release (on gatefold sleeves, inner sleeves and labels). The album packaging designs were made in tribute to their original album packaging designs, with many updates and redesigns to ensure a more timeless aesthetic for these reissues. Excited to share a new project: Packaging and artwork for the debut album from @kimofficiell – "Äntligen". For this project, I was responsible for art direction, graphic design and the development of the conceptual framework for Kim’s debut album, Äntligen, released in October 2024 by Beluga Records. The album’s indie and punk-inspired pop sound was reflected in a collage-based visual style designed to complement the music’s themes. My role included both visual execution and shaping the conceptual approach, ensuring the artwork matched the tone and content of the album.
