The Pride moves between 1958 and 2008 and examines changing attitudes to sexuality, exploring themes of intimacy, identity and the courage it takes to be who you really are.
Focusing on three central characters, Oliver, Philip and Sylvia, the play explores events that occur to them in 1958 and 2008. In 1958, Philip is married to Sylvia but in love with Oliver. In 2008, Oliver is addicted to sex with strangers, and Sylvia loves them both.
This powerful play and the playwright have won numerous awards: an Olivier Award and Critics Circle Award for the Most Promising Playwright, and the John Whiting Award for Best New Play.
