@elizabethstreetgarden is one of my happy place in the city. I have only seen happy faces when I set foot in this small piece of magical oasis in the middle of the chaos. No matter it's 10 mins or 4 hours , I always walk away happy. So I am devastated and pissed to find out about the state court decision to turn this lovely heaven into housing . Yes , we all need housing and it is every New Yorker's right to shelter & live with dignity. But let's ask ourself this: what makes New York City NEW YORK? What makes this place unique ? There are a million plus answers depends on who you ask, but I can tell you that @elizabethstreetgarden is one of them ! By erasing it , you make New York less New York and this city a less bright . I just got back from visiting Dad in Taipei , Taiwan and one of the most amazing afternoon was us spending time at this lotus pond, it's vivid green and purple colors made a strong visual impression in me. So when my friend @desiree_zim approached me about painting a pair of lovely dogs for her better half @chrisschaublin I immediately thought about placing them inside a lotus pond. I simply did not want to just Paint another dog portrait and wanted this piece to stand out, and what better than having them lounging above two lotus leafs on a sunder afternoon.
