#kunst #kunstaandelek #culemborg #sidespecific #patronen #ritmes #natuur #sculptuur

outside environment, inside. in this installation the floor is covered with earthen tiles that gradually lose their form. in their accumulation, the gesture of arranging, building and dismantling is repeated. a rhythm of becoming and fading unfolds. in the centre a pallet sculpture, carrying no weight, is pointing to movement that has come to a halt. empty stretcher bars are uncovered and the structure is rendered useless for transport. together the work exposes how material and function relate to our world, while calling your judgement and presence into question.ย
thanks a lot to @aneiraemilia for helping me make this work and @annabae_is_niet_ok for hosting for a bit. and thanks to exutrecht again making this work possible ๐

bamboo poles, rubber bands, rope, gaffa tape
built specifically in the space of IN TRANSIT (@kunstplatformlink ) , this installation unfolds through a bamboo framework resting on a grid of black tape lines, followed by empty space eventually meeting bamboo quietly leaning against the wall.
it outlines a space the body cannot walk through, placing the structure in direct contrast with the open area beside it and allowing the feeling of obstruction to be present.
using temporary materials and tying technique, this work is very much part of a constructed space, echoing bamboo scaffolding that questions its functionality and purpose.
the tape lines almost operate as shadows, holding the structure in place. while the space seems rigid and artificial at first, the longer one dwells, the more the contrast of the natural materials and their organic use seem to stand out.
it is a zone emphasizing ambiguity, an in-between state of conforming and resisting, where the bamboo against the wall remains perpetually on the verge of collapse.ย
>> you can view this work until the beginning of december at Zwolle station!

mixed media, 2025
taking its starting point from a cube-shaped sculpture in the forest, this follow-up work embodies the feeling of non-shelter often evoked by the urban environment. based on the artistโs proportions, this cube relates directly to the body. not accessible to enter, yet not closed off, due to the use of transparent plastic that is in direct contrast to the natural world. it captures an in-between feeling of revealing and concealing. the other material used is taken from and hints directly at the transport of products and big advertisements on building walls, halting the flow of busy citylife. the work is inviting a different perspective on everyday life, capturing decay and questioning utility and value.
very grateful this is now on display at MIKC in hengelo until the 28th of september โค๏ธ

Looking back at "Gen Z is aan zet", a student groupshow at @galerielarik where I could show two older works that I made during my studies. It was from July 19 until August 9. I'm very happy that the works got another chance to be seen!
