I was giggling at these and realized that was selfish. WE should be giggling at these together 🤝 this is my good deed for the day. Comment “thank you” unless you’re ungrateful

KINDLY!!!! 🥹🩵 it’s out in the world!! This song has been a hard-fought lesson for me in being met with the kindness of God when I don’t feel like I “deserve” it. (As if we ever do or ever could…) This summer I was sooo burnt out, feeling at the end of myself, really not proud of who I was or the fruit I felt like I was missing, and my dear friend @mppunky said she had been praying for me and wanted to share what the Lord laid on her heart. She reeeally hears from the Lord and I trust her even to give me correction. So I expected a rebuke and was ready for a slap on the wrists and a charge to do better. Instead she met me with a huge bouquet of flowers, a hug, and a card about not being so hard on myself. I wept and told her I expected her to rebuke me and she said “oh Rach, I think you’ve had quite enough of that already.” (Cue more weeping.) AND ISNT THAT JUST LIKE THE LORD?! 😭 when I expect Him to give me rebuke and the prodigal expects the crumbs from the Father’s table, we’re met with a robe and a ring and welcome home feast that we could never deserve but HE IS SO KIND TO GIVE!!!

“Plastic Fruit” is one of the most special songs I’ve had the privilege of writing & I’m so glad it’s finally out! To be honest, this song was birthed out of a hodge podge of frustration, conviction, grief, gratitude, confusion, you name it… All things that come along with being in ministry and working in the music industry. You see people being… people. For better or worse. I often see simultaneously the most encouraging and gutting things in the same breath. And the more you sit and stew on the speck in someone else’s eye, the more you become aware of the plank in your own (or at least we should). You think “how can people fall for this fake performative knock off fruit just because there’s shiny lights and big stages?” And then if you let yourself sit for a second longer, you start to wonder what areas of your own life look much better from a distance through the filtered lens of social media or a stage or lack of vulnerability. Where’s the line? And what really makes me so different than the people that make the news headlines? In Mark 11 as Jesus was on His way to cleanse the temple and turn over tables, He stopped to curse a fig tree. It had the appearance of bearing fruit without actually being fruitful. A very literal picture of what He was about to go rebuke in the temple that had allowed a place of worship to become a den of thieves. That’s not just my enemy or my neighbors’ problem, that’s conviction I hope to carry into every shadowed corner of my life. Jesus, prune us. Clean Your house. Clean me.
