Like many young musicians, I dreamed of playing on SNL.
At 22, I was an intern in the music department. At 24, I performed “Uptown Funk” with Mark Ronson. And last weekend, I had the surreal opportunity of filling in for Steve Turre in the house band.
I cleared my schedule, lived with the charts and board tapes, and did my best to honor the chair of a trombone icon whose held it down longer than I’ve been alive. It was a beautiful, humbling experience I’ll always carry with me.
Eternally grateful to Lenny Pickett — a crucial mentor during my NYU days — for the call, and to the legendary SNL Band for their warmth and spirit.

Newest collaboration with Ray Mason! @rayjaymay - Conn 6H with valve and bendy bell! This project brings together the best of many worlds with a horn that plays open and colorful over the (now extended) range of the horn! Always a treat to work with musicians whose creativity knows no bounds and building a custom instrument is the best bet to help them find their voice.
