170.000 years: this is the average time it takes for a photon to escape the core of the sun and reach its surface. Outside the Sun, the photons will then travel the 149.6 million km distance to the Earth in under 8 minutes. The light that warms and illuminates the world today was created 170,000 years ago in a nuclear fusion reaction, deep in the heart of the Sun. This passive, analog installation is a tribute to this journey, its message made visible by the very photons that pass through the lens. Caustics lens computation: @rayform Timelapse: @romaintes_

Sculpting light from the sun. Behind the scenes: we're making lenses to bend solar rays and redirect photons into a circle, as an homage to the sun. Caustics lens computation: @rayform Solaris lumens is currently on view at @mudaclausanne .

Solaris lumens: a solar projection This analog projection system is a custom optical plate that concentrates the sun's rays, deflecting photons and sculpting light. Solaris lumens is an homage to Spinoza's idea of Pantheism: as soon as the Sun shines, it produces a circle that becomes perfect at a specific moment of the day. The installation is currently on view just outside @mudaclausanne in Lausanne Switzerland. Solaris lumen, 2024-2025 Creation & conception: @_solar_lab (@JulietteBibasse & @JoanieLemercier ) Caustics lens computation: @rayform Technical development: Martin Pirson (@mrtnprsn Studio Lemercier) Timelapses: @romaintes_ Work commissioned by @mudaclausanne as part of the Solar Biennale Soleil.s 2025

This caustic lens projects a glowing red dodecahedron, one of the five Platonic solids, using nothing but light and surface design. From mathematics to magic… can you guess which Platonic solid we’ll project next?

Visible until July 13th at @lamarechalerie_cac , Endangered Herbarium by @fragment.in poetically focuses sunlight into threatened plant species. Contrasting with the big red-tinted window, the blue SD card shaped lenses evoke ancient cyanotypes and questions the future of archiving.

Afternoon sunlight reflecting on the honeycomb engraved dial. Our algorithm takes into account the pattern during the computation and ensures the bee is perfectly rendered.

We are proud to present “Missing People – Inventio fortunate” – an evocative art piece by Stéphanie Roland, currently exhibited at @zebrastraat in Ghent, Belgium. Using Rayform’s caustics technology and AI, Roland combines optical lenses with profound storytelling. Outraged by the habit of military dictatorship to make opponents “disappear”, the artist explores the themes of memory, absence, and mourning. The seemingly empty lenses project eerie AI-generated portraits of disappeared individuals–a haunting metaphor for the fragile trace of those no longer here. 🔗 Watch a video of the installation on our website, link in bio.

“Truth arrives in slanted beams” is a new interactive art installation by @sarahmeyohas which takes advantage of the Rayform technology. Multiple orientable reflectors cast the desert sunlight into hidden messages on the curved wall–where light becomes language. Publicly visible until May 11th 2025 for the @_desertx exhibition ☀️ Curious how it works? Watch the mirrors come to life in a behind-the-scenes video and explore the full story on our website.
