Oh @simon_gee_hiviz , I will forever miss you.
You were the first art teacher who truly encouraged me to believe in myself. You saw potential in your students and nurtured it with patience, kindness, and quiet confidence. Your classroom was always a place where we felt safe to create, to experiment, and to grow.
I will always remember the classical music you played during lessons. Those playlists filled the room with calm and made art feel almost magical. They created an atmosphere where we could focus, express ourselves, and simply feel at peace.
Your passion for art and for your students left a lasting mark on so many of us. The encouragement you gave will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I am deeply saddened by your passing, but incredibly grateful to have been one of the many students lucky enough to learn from you.
Rest in peace, Simon. You will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.
P.A.U.L - @thepaulstringer is a Birmingham-based photographer with a gift that goes far beyond the camera. He doesn’t just take photos — he teaches people how to see. Every conversation with him shifts something, whether he’s breaking down the craft or unpacking the mindset behind creating meaningful work.
I’ve met Paul a few times now, the first being at an exhibition where he was showcasing his images — and even then, it was clear how deeply he cares about guiding upcoming photographers. His passion for helping others grow is just as powerful as the work he creates.
An incredible photographer, teacher, and someone who reminds us that photography isn’t just about what’s in front of the lens… it’s about how we choose to view the world.

This shot was taken on one of the creative walks @brumstills he organised, where we visited a fellow artist’s studio @thepaulstringer and reconnected with why we make things in the first place.
Always grateful for people like him who build spaces, not just images. 📷✨ #birminghamphotographywalks #freelancer
