Music Television is shutting down soon… and honestly, it hit harder than I expected.
For an 80’s kid like me, MTV wasn’t just a channel it was a culture.
It was how we discovered music, style, attitude, and even rebellion.
Waiting for your favorite song to come on.
Recording tracks on cassette, praying the DJ wouldn’t talk over the intro.
Late-night countdowns.
Music videos that felt like mini movies.
MTV taught us that music wasn’t just something you heard, it was something you felt, watched, dressed like, and lived through.
Before algorithms.
Before skips.
Before everything became disposable.
It was raw. It was messy. It was iconic.
And now, on December 31, 2025, the final chapter of its dedicated music channels will be written as MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live officially go off the air, marking the end of an era that meant so much to so many of us.
Its closing feels like the end of a chapter, not just for television, but for a generation that grew up believing music could change moods, nights, and sometimes lives.
Grateful I got to grow up in that era 🎶
Some things don’t disappear… they just turn into memories with a soundtrack.

Last night was special. 🌀
Caught @francismercier live and suddenly I see my boy Julien running the lights like an absolute beast on those screens. 🤯🔥
Nothing better than watching a friend shine doing what they love. Proud moment!
