The Star Trek Cruise was about 6 weeks after my breast cancer surgery, and I was going through a lot mentally. I thought I would break down when I saw my cruise friends for the first time in a year, but I didn’t. I was just so happy to see them.❤️
Then came night 3.
I was at a cocktail event meeting some of the actors, and I started getting a bit emotional talking about my cancer journey with the group I was seated with. Then @ravendlightworker , who plays Dr. Pollard on Star Trek: Discovery, came over.
We had never met before, but when I got up to greet her with a hug, she asked what was going on. I told her about my recent surgery, and without hesitation she pulled me into the biggest bear hug. I completely broke down, sobbing in her arms for what felt like 10 minutes.
It was so raw and so open. Like we had known each other for years and she was just a good friend showing up for me in a moment I didn’t even realize I needed.
Later that night there was a rave, and she came over to dance with me and my friends. I danced, I screamed, I let go of everything I had been holding in. It was freeing in a way I can’t even fully describe.
I’m not a religious person, but I truly feel like the universe knew I needed to meet Raven that day.
What an incredible experience. I’m so grateful we connected and honored to now call her a friend. 💚 Love ya.
