Hello everyone, just wanted to bring awareness to this situation and call out jonlo21 DO NOT SUPPORT HIM!
For the specific scenario, Jon had copied a sketch originally created by @onk97 but had signed it off as his own. No credit was given, he stated it was a commission, and sold it to a customer. The first photo is the copy done by Jon, and the second photo is the original done by Anh Vu.
Essentially, this is plagiarism and is morally wrong towards a hard worker such as Anh. It is equivalent to someone copying the Mona Lisa, signing your name on it, and selling it as your own work to another person. Jonās whole page is filled with copies of other artists, and claims to be āinspiredā by another artist when the sketch is exactly traced.
While there are many people out there whoās copied art, it seems like Jonās motive is to make money. After Iāve messaged him and told him what heās doing isnāt morally right, he eventually blocked me. Prior to our conversation, he also deleted the post of Anhās copy.
The reason Iām bringing awareness to this situation despite many others doing similar work is to highlight the immorality behind plagiarizing work. Especially work done from a small artist who works hard to grow, without motive of money, but for the love of art itself.
