I had a wonderful time helping out with the Spring Goth Formal, and I look forward to many more to come! It was so lovely to see so many people come by to dance and socialize and just be themselves 🖤 Huge thanks to @djcharlieflower and @ianhemerlein for your wonderful tunes, @miss6point6 and @mtvvcribbs for decorations and overview, and the wonderful @flickertheatre for letting us host this awesome event here! Guys! Last night was so wonderful! We made $303 dollars for The Athens Area Homeless Shelter! That’s in small dollar donations! It just goes to show that when the Goth community comes together good things happen! Thank you @flickertheatre for being our gracious host! Thank you bartenders Ryan and Chris for your kindness and hospitality. Thank you @goths_of_athens_ga and your kind sponsorship and support. You galvanize our community and give it a forum for good! Thank you DJ Hemmy @ianhemerlein ! I was pleased to spin with you and am grateful for the donation of your talent! Thank you @rat.king.13 and @miss6point6 as acting as our event ambassadors. Your promotional work and dedication was flawless and you were such gracious hosts for a wonderful evening. Thank you most of all to everyone who came out and danced! To all who give. Your evening out will help address an important need the Shelter has, so they can focus resources on helping unhoused families. I am honored with your trust and support and the faith of all the partners and collaborators. The Goth Formal will return this summer in August for a darkly magical night where we can meet again and do good. Thank you everyone and stay kind and watch over each other!

Meet DJ Hemmy! @ianhemerlein will be 1/2 of your DJ team for the Spring Goth Formal! Here’s what he wanted to tell you about himself: I’ve been DJ’ing professionally for 5 years now. I DJ lots of private events like weddings and other celebrations - but some of my absolute favorite events to DJ are when I can play specific genres and get creative, such as my wife’s Blood and Metal themed party two years ago that featured industrial, nu metal, darkwave and more. Getting to bring people together through shared love of a kind of music paired with creatively mixing for crowds is why I love DJ’ing! I used to play live in bands in town but since DJ’ing became my career, this has become my primary way to be apart of night life events and express myself through music in an entirely different way. My favorite goth band is The Cure. Some other artists I love that I’ll let the real goths decide is true goth music or just goth adjacent would be Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Cocteau Twins, NIN, and more recently Molchat Doma and Boy Harsher.
