Vertical House
Situated on a scenic hilltop with breathtaking views of the Tajan River and the surrounding forest, this residence was designed to harmonize with the landscape while overcoming strict local building regulations. The property spans approximately 3,000 square meters; however, due to zoning restrictions, the permissible construction footprint on the ground was limited to just 40 square meters.
The client requested a spacious 300-square-meter home with four bedrooms. To meet this requirement, the only viable solution was to design a multi-story structure. The building consists of a six-story, 40-square-meter concrete core that houses the vertical circulation—elevator, stairs, and corridors. Extending from this core are long cantilevered floors on all sides, which accommodate the main living spaces, including the bedrooms, kitchen, and living room.
This vertical composition not only solves the spatial limitations but also enhances the connection with the natural surroundings. The height of the structure offers residents panoramic and uninterrupted views, creating a sense of openness and a strong visual relationship with the river and forest below.
