Ai is nuts. I have been experimenting with the new Sketchup plugin, Diffusion. These are some projects we are working on and they are still in the design stage. Diffusion takes an image of my sketchup model and creates a photo, sketch, watercolor, or cardboard model based on whatever parameters I set in about 5 seconds. It can take a couple tries to render correctly, but the results are pretty amazing.

Nearing the finish line on our Yamhill House! At the base of Mt. Tabor Park our client wanted this NSFR w/ basement ADU to be a rental development, both upper unit and lower ADU unit. Upper unit has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms—master suite with an office/den on the upper floor, 2 bedrooms and full bath on the main floor. ADU unit is a daylight basement w/ two bedrooms, 1 full bathroom. The units will be available starting July, holler if you’re interested.

Word to the wise, if you’re building an ADU in a basement you need a 1-hr fire separation between it and the unit above, and that 1-hr fire rating includes enclosing recessed lights. To save time and money ask your electrician to install fire-rated metal enclosures first and then the can lights. In our case, our electrician didn’t know this and we learned a good lesson that gypboard enclosures are painstaking. Luckily we had our cabinet carpenter fabricate these lovely boxes and even fashioned a caulk gun extension to get fire rated caulk in the seams. .
