Your Red Deer Kings are happy to announce the signing of point guard Raph Mutongolo, the 6’1” point guard and Saskatoon native joins the Kings after a decorated high school career at Holy Cross that included 2 provincial championships, as well as being a member of the basketball Saskatchewan U15 and U17 provincial teams. Raph concluded his high school career being named the city and love male basketball player of the year as well as the prestigious Basketball Saskatchewan Mr. Basketball award. In the provincial final Raph led his team in an incredible comeback down 10 points in the final minutes, sparking the run with many steals and baskets to win his second provincial championship in his career.
New coach Anthony Skepple had this to say about Raph.
“I’m very excited Raph has decided to join us at RDP, I’ve known Raph since he was 15 years old he was my starting point guard on the U15 provincial team. He is an absolute dog defensively the type of player that can defend multiple positions with his athleticism and length. He loves to get steals and run in transition which will fit our play style perfectly. Raph is also an excellent passer with superb vision, he understands the game with a maturity level far beyond his years. He’s been involved in great programs with great coaching over the last many years, whether it was coach Scott with his club team Greenwave, at Holy Cross with Coach Josh or the provincial team with Coach Nav or coach David who introduced me to Raph, you can tell he’s been around great coaching and great programs for many years. We are very excited for the impact he will make in the ACAC.”
