Drake’s Iceman is shaping up to be the most anticipated album of his career 🥶 To kick off the rollout back in July 2025, he premiered a new song called “What Did I Miss?” through a unique livestream format that has since seen two follow-up episodes, with a fourth on the way. The song debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the last time a new rap song cracked the top 10 on the chart. The drought has been real, the longest since the streaming era began, and it seems like Iceman is the thing that will end it. Ye brought out Lauryn Hill tonight at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles for his second show there this week, and they performed “All Falls Down” together 🤯🔥 A moment that needs context to fully appreciate. “All Falls Down” appeared on The College Dropout in 2004, Ye’s debut album, and it’s always carried a particular weight because of where it came from. The hook on that record was performed by Syleena Johnson, but the song was originally built around a sample of Lauryn Hill’s “Mystery of Iniquity” from her MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 album. Ye tried to clear the sample but it never got cleared, and with the album rollout closing in he pulled in Syleena Johnson, who happened to be in the same studio that night working on a different song entirely, and asked her to re-sing the hook at 6am without even telling her why he needed it. The result was one of the most emotionally resonant songs Ye has ever made, touching on consumerism, self image, and the ways people chase validation to fill deeper voids, but for over two decades the original voice behind the song’s DNA had never shared a stage with him for it. That changed tonight. Lauryn Hill walking out at SoFi to perform “All Falls Down” with Ye is genuinely one of the more meaningful live moments he has created in recent memory. It was Ye honoring where the song actually came from, and Hill showing up to meet that moment.

Drake’s “Shabang” stands out as one of the most energetic moments on ICEMAN, bringing back sharp confidence mixed with humor and punchline-heavy delivery 🧊 The record blends icy production with a playful attitude as Drake moves between flexes, slick one liners, and melodic moments that make the track instantly replayable. Fans quickly gravitated toward the song for its catchy flow switches, quotable lyrics, and the way it captures the larger than life energy that the ICEMAN era has been building around.

DRAKE — WHISPER MY NAME 🧊 Track three from ICEMAN is another example of why his longevity in rap continues to stand out 20 years into his career. The song immediately caught attention for its delivery and the way Drake switches cadences throughout the record, showing he is still experimenting with new pockets and sounds instead of relying on older formulas. The song fits the cold and atmospheric direction of ICEMAN perfectly, with dark production that lets his melodies and sharp rap moments breathe.

“Make Them Pay” is track seven on ICEMAN and one of the most talked about records on the project. Drake arrives with a level of focus and urgency that runs through the entire five minute runtime. Drake himself made clear how he felt about the record privately before the album even dropped. In a text to producer Ovrkast., he said “I prob did my best raps ever on this beat for iceman,” and the track delivers on that. Lyrically, he is in a zone that longtime fans of his pen will immediately recognize as Drake at a high level, with lines that are sharp and deliberate rather than casual. The song is also one of the more pointed moments on the album in terms of who he addresses. He calls out multiple people including DJ Khaled directly, referencing their years of collaboration and taking aim at Khaled for what Drake perceived as a lack of loyalty and public silence when tensions in the industry reached their peak. Is this top three on the album?

Drake references “Back To Back” on ICEMAN song “Burning Bridges” 🧊 The track runs in two halves, opening with a vulnerable section about choosing Toronto loyalty over a woman who wants to relocate to Los Angeles, then flipping into something far more combative in the second half. The chorus lands with a line about getting bodied by a singer, a direct callback to the classic Meek Mill diss.
