Four months ago, I visited @randolfclothing@randolf_lab in the Philippines to bring a vision to life—a customised Barong Tagalog, our official national dress 🇵🇭
I had the privilege of meeting RJ, where we worked closely on the fittings and designed every detail to reflect who I am:
Monstera leaves – you all know my love for aroids. Monstera represents resilience to me—thriving anywhere, adapting, growing no matter the environment.
Koru Māori design – inspired by the unfurling silver fern (ponga) here in New Zealand. It symbolises new life, growth, and renewal—something I deeply connect with in my journey.
Three stars and the sun (sunrays) – a tribute to my roots. A reminder of where I came from, and how far I’ve come.
This piece is more than just clothing—it’s identity, culture, and journey woven into one.

This barong is a tapestry of our love story, with every detail holding a memory dear to us: the sunflower, the first flower I gave Jimella when I was still courting her; the tulips, when I asked her to be my girlfriend; the Ecuadorian roses, a timeless Valentine’s surprise; the lantern from Taipei, glowing with our travels; the wave from Tokyo, inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa; the supertree from Singapore, standing tall like our growing love; and a border inspired by the Pandora charm bracelet, symbolizing the milestones we’ve shared. At the back, the double heart tag from the Return to Tiffany pendant necklace, marked with our initials, seals this Barong as not just attire, but the story of us woven in thread.

Beyond the Barong and the details, I’m just lucky to have my brother and sister by my side to help me step into this new chapter.
