Today is my 25th birthday - thought I’d share this video from last week the incredible @maisonic took. From @marcusrattler Legerdemain release show with the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra!! This was truly an unforgettable night of music that Marcus really went all out on.

I love music!!!
THE SENTIMENTAL REBEL is now out on streaming!!
This is one of my most ambitious projects to date, being a kind of large-form amalgamation of Richard Strauss and Immanuel Wilkins (and everything in between). I’ve been super fortunate to get to play/record it with a great group of like-minded musicians and friends, quite frankly who all played their butts off for this, and I’m excited for this music to finally be out in the world! For more thoughts on the music itself, I wrote a “liner notes” essay for my blog that I will be sharing soon, talking about the concept and inspiration for this work.
This is definitely one of the pinnacles so far of my time in Kansas City, and I’m so incredibly privileged to be part of a wonderful community of musicians, artists, and friends. That being said, this is only the beginning!!! Thank you everyone for your unending love and support, and I hope you all listen, enjoy the album, and find out what it means to you🧡🧡🧡

“Sling”, the next single from “Blackout”, will be out next Friday May 15th!! The melody is taken from a beautiful poem of the same name written by my dad, which can be found in this collection from a few years ago. He also has a new book, “Wasn’t Any Maybe So”, that will be available on May 19th. Go check him out!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
The first single from the Loren Broaddus Trio, “I want everything I’ve ever seen in the movies”, is out this Friday on all streaming services except Spotify. Full album “Blackout” dropping June 12th.
Inspired by a line from Gene Wilder’s character from “The Producers”, this song is all about taking chances, and as such is the anthem of the Loren Broaddus Trio. This is the first tune of mine we ever played as a group, and it would be nothing if not for Matt and Andrew’s contributions.

Some exciting things in April!!
First, I’ll be playing with the wonderful band Legerdemain at their album release show at the Warwick Theater on April 15th. They’re doing some super cool stuff and I’m excited to be featured alongside them on a few songs!
The following week, I’ll be performing with the great pianist Cyrus Chestnut at the Folly as part of a UMKC alumni band! I’m honored and excited to be playing, it’ll be a blast!
Then, I’m thrilled to start my regular monthly gig back at the Taproom! It’s a great venue in Lawrence that gives weirdos like myself a place to play, and the audience always enjoys it too! I’ll be playing every last Wednesday of the month - the inaugural trio show will feature @jjnovelli_ and @blue_noyes and I’m super excited to hit with them!
Lastly, this month I turn 25, so included here is a wonderfully intellectual picture shared by my parents😅 thank you all for your support, it’s such a privilege to make music and be part of this wonderful scene. Onward🫡
