Ricky the donkey and Goober the pig remind us that love needs no judgment—only a soft gaze and a gentle head hug.
Donkeys show affection through calm presence and gentle contact. Pigs, highly social and intelligent, respond to trust with stillness and eye contact. Moments like this are where trust quietly lives.

We are incredibly grateful to have partnered with @earth.and.eats on his documentary @kinship.the.film . He didn’t just film our second year of Summer Camp — he captured the heart of it.
This 3-minute short is something special.
Stay with it until the very end… the kids’ interviews say everything. Their words remind us why we do this work and how the next generation will help build a more compassionate world.
Kinship is a feature documentary by Lucas Spiegel, a world traveler, author, and activist.
In this film, Lucas meets people around the globe whose lives reflect a deeper respect for animals — from animal sanctuaries and alt-protein innovators to farmers who’ve left animal agriculture behind.
The film is part travel memoir, part food show, and part impact piece, exploring what a more compassionate future might look like. Kinship is set to release in 2026

The kids heard the news… we received a $20,000 matching grant!! 🎉
That means every dollar you give will be doubled — up to $20,000.
Whether it’s $1, $5, or more, small gifts go a long way in helping us continue this work.
This campaign supports something easy to overlook but impossible to do without: the essential equipment that keeps the sanctuary running and makes it possible for underserved youth to experience it. It may not sound glamorous — a tractor, a Polaris, a mini van but these are the tools that make everything else possible.
Because when young people arrive here, many are meeting a cow, pig, goat, or chicken up close for the very first time.
They begin to see them as individuals — with personalities, friendships, and lives that matter.
Help us double this gift and keep creating these life changing experiences for both animals and kids. ❤️

We just dropped off a box of fresh fava beans, Swiss chard, Russian kale, and three different kinds of lettuce at the food pantry in Point Reyes Station.
We still have more to share, so if you’re in the area and could use some fresh produce, DM us 🤍

Meet the newest residents, Maya and Montell 🤎
Mama Suzy gave birth to these twins on May 5th!
Suzy was rescued from the same hoarding case as her sister Cassie—yes, that Cassie who just had triplets. That means we now have 5 healthy, thriving goat kids in our farmily!
Come meet all the sweet babies in person. We host Visitor Days every Saturday, and Family Day on the last Sunday of every month.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! Animal parents, plant parents, and all who care for our Mother Earth <3
We are so fortunate to witness what it truly means to take care of one another—mothers nurturing their babies, families staying together, and even bonds that form across species. Love lives in everyday moments of care, protection, and connection.
This is something most farmed animals miss in factory farming, where bonds are broken. Today, we honor compassion, where families stay together and every life is valued. A day to celebrate love, and the responsibility we share to care for one another.

We had a very busy week last week with sponsored field trips 💛
Over 100 students joined us for half days outside in nature with the animals.
And the lunches! Miyoko served her delicious baked tofu, rice, and beans, and on another day @thebutchersson_official generously donated sandwiches. Everyone went back for seconds (and thirds). One student even said, “you’re going to make me vegan.”
Fred the turkey was the star! Showing off and guiding everyone on the tour (did you know Fred is famous on @natgeo ??) —along with Goober, our big 700lb pig. We talked about how pigs eat many of the same foods we do, and spent time in the garden making native grass dolls.
A really special week for the books ✨

It’s the real thing. Real wasabi. Not the fake green stuff you get with your sushi. On my vegan tour of Japan, we visited an actual wasabi farm. Turns out there’s just one here in the US, @halfmoonbaywasabi . I bought some of the real thing for my upcoming 9-course vegan Mother’s Day dinner I’m making here at @ranchocompasion . We still have two tickets left, so if you want to taste it, grab the tickets now!
In a world where everyone has sanctuary.
In a world where we all feel safe and loved.
In a world where peace is normal.
Angel came to us at just one month old—a survivor of the dairy industry, separated from her mother far too soon. She was rescued by @karennalove , given a chance to grow up outside of a system that would have used her body for profit. Now, she gets to rest and feel the sun.
Lets choose kindness, for every being ❤️🩹
Let. Love. Roam.

‼️Meet some of our newest residents… yes, all birds
We’re a bunch of bird nerds over here‼️
These individuals came from a meat farm, and two backyard neglect cases—one where a hen was called “too loud” just for laying an egg. That noise? It’s celebration and communication!
And Sara, sweet Sara, was once someone’s pet. She’s so friendly and will walk right up for chin scratches.
Come meet them at our Visitor Day, every Saturday.
Tickets on our website or DM us for the link. 🖤
