Left to nature A female adult humpback whale washed up on shore in Westfjords Iceland and has been laying there for a month. Animals this size are incredibly difficult to move, and as long as the carcass isn’t causing environmental harm or is a threat to someone’s safety, she will stay here until nature takes care of her. She was still somehow beautiful and it was surreal standing next to her. But also so sad, seeing her like this. A quiet, heavy kind of presence. #icelandnature #westfjords #humpbackwhale #naturestory #icelandphotography

Hey Since so many new faces have joined here I wanted to say hi 👋 I'm Rán, a professional photographer born and raised in Iceland. I shoot landscapes, travel, adventures, production stills, BTS, people, wildlife & products (plus a bit of drone work). I'm a 44 year old woman (feeling 25), married, mom of three, outdoors addict and a camera shy social loner. I’m not here to influence or count my likes. Just to share the beauty of Iceland and my projects with you. I've worked as a freelance photographer for 14 years and I'm so grateful being able to do what I love, full time. Thanks so much for being here. Your support means a lot to me. But enough about me. Tell me about YOU! - Rán

Part of the pack Life at Hornstrandir came with the most beautiful neighbors, a family of 5 foxes who claimed the space under our cabin. Curious, playful, a bit mischievous, and often following us around just to see what we were up to. I never wanted to disrupt their peace, so I waited patiently, letting them decide if they wanted to come closer. Days turned into a front-row show of hunting practice, wrestling matches, and the kind of cuteness that makes you forget time exists. Being trusted by the wild like that is humbling and unforgettable. 📷 Shot on Canon #iceland #arcticfox #icelandnature #icelandphotographer #wildlifephotography #curiouscreatures #ranbjargar #photographer #canon

Greenland Migration 🎬 behind the scenes From producers, assistant directors, cinematographers, camera operators, focus pullers, grips, gaffers, drone teams, stunt coordinators, special effects crews, makeup artists, costume, sound, set design, medics, drivers, caterers and everyone in between. Hundreds of people working together every single day to make something on this scale possible. These photos are from the moments in between. Waiting for the fog to clear, coffee breaks, crew preparing gear, resetting scenes, and the small moments most people never get to see. That’s one of my favorite things about shooting behind the scenes, documenting not only the movie itself, but the people and atmosphere behind it all. Thanks for letting me be a part of this! Greenland Migration 🎬 bus attack scene. Here, everything came together in a pretty intense way. Filmed in the Icelandic mountains with explosives experts on set, stunt coordination, and a lot of moving parts to make this sequence work. And some behind the scenes to show this amazing crew. Greenland Migration 🎬 So honored to have worked as a unit stills photographer on set of Greenland Migration, a post-apocalyptic survival thriller. Written by Chris Sparling and directed by @ric.roman.waugh starring @gerardbutler and @morenabaccarin Now 2 years from filming and I can finally share some of the photos with you. What an amazing team of creative and talanted people who made all this possible. This is the beach scene where people are trying to get on life boats but get hit by a tsunami. Hundreds of extras and stunts were needed for this scene and what an performance. Big thanks to the team for including me in every single frame of shooting and being super nice and welcoming. And to @truenorth_nordic and all the other super humans on this production. Special thanks to @canon.island for providing me with extra Canon gear and @reykjavikfoto for memory cards and camera cases. This was just epic 🙌 more to come! @greenlandmovie #greenlandmigration #photographer #icelandicphotographer #unitstillsphotography #onset

May is a shift. After months of wind, snow, and that constant chilly feeling, we finally start to notice the longer light and warmer temperatures. This is a project I did for Eimskip, one of the largest companies in Iceland. They have produced calendars since 1928, printed and shared with those who want them. I’m the first woman to photograph the entire calendar, now for the second year in a row. A project I’m very proud of. This photo was taken in Hellnar at Snæfellsnes, a small coastal village sitting right on the edge of the Atlantic. The cliffs here are shaped by old lava flows meeting the ocean, carved over time into these sculptural rock formations. ✨follow @ranbjargar for more landscape beauty from Iceland #iceland #may #snæfellsnes #icelandicnature #icelandicphotographer
